Anyone else get invited/signed up? Not seeing any big deal unless you sign up and pay for their premium membership which personally I refuse to do.

maybe I'm misreading the email, but mine said 'Choose your free socket each month"

I wonder if that includes things like swivels, impact, etc? If that were true...oh man $50 would be a decent deal

Edit: I went to their website and it says free socket of the month. So I guess you don't get to choose after all :(

I was not clear if you had to purchase from SK directly (SK Web site?) or if you could purchase from SK distributors. SK direct pricing will be list price while distributors will be discounted.

I want SK to be successful and hope the best for them. I really like to support US manufacturers and have had terrific support from SK Customer Service. Having said that, this program isn't too exciting.

If you have to purchase from sk directly you'd be losing your ***. That's even more than off the truck and double what you can get stuff for new on ebay.

It depends. If as a member you have access to clearance sales and other sales, it might not be too bad. I know although it took forever to get them, I bought my metric x frame set direct from SK as a special SEMA deal. :dunno:
I'm tempted to join just to support them but, there really isn't anything in SK that I want that I don't already have aside from their new 90 tooth ratchets and that drop in fine toothed cartridge. let me sleep on it.....

I didn't get an invite...

EDIT: I see now you can just sign up on their website. I almost am tempted to join just because it's so weird. Socket of the month club? This is pretty out of left field.

I was thinking the same thing, those 90 tooth ratchets look sweet

There is beer of the month, wine of the month, cigar of the month, even bacon of the month. It was just a matter of time.

Unless they clarify that you'll be completing sets if you stay loyal to the program over the years the socket/mo seems really silly. I'd be more tempted to join with the prospect of an occasional hat and shirt over the course of the year.

Perhaps if anyone from SK frequents these forums, we could get some more detail as to what our $50 would get us?

My email just states " a socket every month".

Maybe I got an early email?
Or upgrade to SK Club PRO for $49.99/year to receive:

...
SOCKET OF THE MONTH Choose your free socket every month
...
See below. If we got to choose what socket we got, then it'd be a good deal. I agree I'm not ponying up for some mystery socket

"choose your free socket" could have a decent 3/4 drive set in 12 months.

Im sure it will be limited to basic styles and drive sizes otherwise everyone will be abusing it to get the most expensive sockets. That reasoning alone is why a random socket sounds more plausible than pick your own.

could be "choose your free socket" from our monthly menu. Choose between a 3/8 inch drive six point 5/8, a 12 point 5/8, or a 1/4 inch T20.

Im joining up, knowing my luck they'd end up sending out tester invitations where you can keep the tools. Probably free promo **** too. They're making a real effort and seem dedicated to making quality american tools, so i think im gonna support them with this.

What the heck - I'm joining and hopefully the free sockets will allow me to slowly create a set whether SAE or metric in 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2.

I signed up and payed for it. Do we get the socket at the beginning of June then? Haven't seen an email or anything on the website.

I messaged SK via Facebook. I got a reply back. They didn't go in to much detail. As far as the free socket goes they said each month there will be a list to choose from and you get to choose a free socket from that list.

bought the premium membership. Agreed that its only $50. It's worth it to see what they do with it. I plan on buying a bunch of their stuff this year anyways.

I bit as well. Let's all get disappointed together! :rocker:

At least I can get 25% off one of those green lever pear heads.

I just spoke to their customer service, she said they email you a list to select from each month. She believes there are between 170 and 180 on the list. I also asked about their new teardrop ratchets, should be available to the public in the next 2 weeks.

The only question I have is they offer discounts, but is that off list prices? I assume you can do better even after the discount from other vendors...
