My order came Tuesday. S-K metric short box end wrench set (special order) and some goodies from the closeout section. Tools and t-shirt are real nice.

A tip of the hat to the good folks at HJE and S-K.

Met my mailman on the way out the door to work Friday...took my box to work with me. Great packing as usual and they went above the call again. Thanks to all at Epstein's. A few non SK items snuck into my cart... Torx drivers feel great and have nice long shafts.

What is that large, flat piece under the screwdrivers, etc? Fender protective mat?

In honor of the Royals winning the world series, I'm going to extend SK Day through Monday.

I had a real busy weekend in Austin, and then back in KC watching/celebrating the Royals, so anyone else that didn't have time to get to a computer, you've got one more day.

Meanwhile, we are busily going through the orders and will have updates for you guys in the next day or so.

thanks again

My first SK day order is in! #100001668.

Just off the cuff I would say that we're looking at around 100 orders, roughly averaging $250 per order. The most popular items were......drum roll please......the breaker bars. Not much of a surprise there.

In terms of comparing it to last year, it was smaller, but we are just as happy. Honestly, this year will be a lot easier to deal with so hopefully everything will go much smoother.

I think everyone should be real happy with their participation and with Garagejournal for another successful SK Day. Thanks for doing this! It is greatly appreciated!

On the plus side, everyone (no matter what your order size) is getting a t-shirt, and we will also have them available on our website by the end of the week.

We did run out of the power banks pretty early though so people that ordered early and qualified will be receiving the power bank and an SK stocking cap (beanie). People who missed out on the power bank will be getting the coffee cup and water bottle. They are real nice so I hope you guys will like them.

Everyone here in KC is stumbling around in a sleepy buzzy daze after last night, so we are going to have to drink some coffee and get to work. Thanks again!

Still no word on my order, but some of the stuff was special order, so a delay is expected.

After the recent thread, I had to order one of the 5 point Buffalo sockets :pimpflash

Looking forward to getting all the new tools!

I was just playing around out in the garage today and thought I should put my largest 1/2" extension and my largest 1/2" socket on my new XXL 30" 1/2" breaker bar. It's pretty giant. The extension is about 21" long and the socket is a 1-1/2".

Found a box waiting when I got home, somehow they missed the box art. But, the awesome customer service makes up for it. They shipped my order minus a single SK flare wrench on B/O, and sent me a free Bonney in its place. I have to say I am really impressed with the quality and finish on the Bonney (MUCH better than the SK DBE) and with Epstein's customer service.

So I got the SK and HJE swag, the SK 24" 1/2 breaker bar, an SK quarter socket to fill a set, some SK clearance screwdrivers, an SK DBE to fill a set, a repair kit for an SK 3/8 breaker bar, 2 rope slings, some midget C-man screwdrivers, an awl, a clutch head driver because I don't have one, and a scrub brush for the mrs.:bounce:

It's been a great day thanks to Steve and Jori at Epsteins!

Picked up this sk set today. It's far from new. In fact , AA says it's 1932-34 vintage. It's not a perfect complete set . It's missing the drive chuck which doubles as a screw driver tip and it's missing the 3/4 socket.

Mind if I ask what size flarenut wrench it was?

I warrantied the largest sae sized wrench from LAST years SK day this September 28th. The replacement that arrived today (7 weeks to warranty!) will be going back as well. The chrome is bronze colored on the inside of the wrench and the chrome was chipped (again!). I'm getting kind of tired of playing this game.

My order arrived - probably the smallest SK day order.

SK Stuff:

10mm impact semi deep
1/2" impact semi deep
5/8 crowfoot (old stock)
1/4" 4" wobble extension (hasn't arrived yet)

Other Stuff:

Wright 10mm 3/8" drive deep socket (since some thought this'd be Wright Day )
10-32 tap + drill
Bonney 3/8" 3/8" drive crowfoot (old stock)
brass tag
Free T-shirt (thanks!)
WW2 'bomb tether' (it was only a dollar, so why not)
cards + sticker

My order was supposed to arrive today, but the snowstorm that socked eastern Colorado yesterday closed down all the highways and delayed the truck carrying my order. So, hopefully I'll have it tomorrow.

Got my order in, complete with dragophant on the box. 3/8 & 1/2 xxl breaker bars, inch and metric flex sockets, metric long combo set, and a few other odds and ends.

Here is most of my SK Day order, the rest will come when the backorder is fulfilled.

Variety of 3/8 sockets
60pc 1/4 socket set (including 1/4" thumbwheel ratchet purchased separately)
3/8" impact socket set
"Long" ratchets in both 1/4 and 3/8
XXL 1/2" breaker

Still to come is 3/8" XXL breaker and long pattern SAE combo wrenches

I was most impressed with the 1/2" XXL breaker bar. The chrome finish on it is absolutely flawless, and it is one big breaker bar! The finish on the breaker bar looks to my eye to be better (or at least more consistent in that it has no flaws whatsoever) than the chrome on the sockets.

Really liking the extras, the shirt is nice its in the wash now. I'm genuinely surprised to get the beanie too I did not know that was going to be a bonus item. I saw everyone else posting pics of their SK beanies and thought they were just buying them in their orders :)

A little embarrassed to say I purchased enough to qualify for the Ideal crescent wrenches + slip joint pliers bonus. The slip joint pliers are pretty nice I would have rather had a second slip joint plier instead of the crescent wrenches (don't really use crescent wrenches since I have Knipex pliers wrenches) and I have but oh well can't complain about free tools, especially free made in the USA tools!

Don't be embarrassed, you did a fantastic job supporting modern American jobs and helped out Harry J Epstein. Nice job! Those are some great items you bought.

View media item 54971My stuff came in Thursday, took pics today. Lots of cool free stuff, should have spent a little more to get the ideal pliers.
Some closeout items, Crows feet, black 17mm wrench and snap ring pliers.
I bought the 1/4" flex because it was discounted and put a 3/8" kit I had in it, instead of just buying the 3/8" version, 15" 3/8" breaker is sweet and is gonna see a lot of use I feel.
The adaptor set was from Epstein's day, been on back order for a while.

Here is a video on how I learned about SK Day!

Jacko

SK will become my new Snap-on. Because when I purchased my Snap-on tools starting in the late 1980's until the early 2000's, I was promised service with the sale for LIFE... Now I cannot get a snappy guy to come to my shop to take care of me to save my life... I have complained to corporate... fell on deaf ears... talked to my local Rep, his reply was that Snap-on franchise drivers were only interested in customers that carried a weekly balance. In other words I was told to take a leap. I have spent well over 100k with snappy over the years and I say NO MORE! Not only does the service stink... BUT too many tools sold by Snap-on are coming from China and Taiwan (which I thought I would never see). It is refreshing to see a company like SK care about American made quality tools, I am impressed and they will get my hard earned money.

My first socket set was SK and i was 14 years old so 40 years later you do the math. SK was one of the first with a lifetime warranty even before Craftsman. I wish SK well as Craftsman is selling alot of Chinese **** now with the Craftsman name on it. I still have a ton of Made in the USA sockets and wrenches. Made in the USA is always superior because us tool user demand excellence.

Oh I like those pliers, what do you use them on? Trying to decide if I need a set of long-reach needle nose...

With the last SK Day, I ordered one of those long reach pliers. Worth EVERY penny and they have been exceptionally helpful.

So how many people received chrome SK sockets and extensions that had faded chrome? I ordered a 3/8" set a few months ago that had terrible chrome. First set had decent sockets, but the extensions were messed up. I complained and they agreed to send me another set if I returned it. I did just that. Except this set was way worse. I just sighed and rolled my eyes, and stuck it in my tool box. I use it often and still functions properly, but when someone like me (not a mechanic, not rich) buys a brand new set of tools from a legendary company like SK, I'd like to think they are perfect. None of my Snap On stuff was EVER like that. Nor Craftsman, Mac, etc... And I grew up using my dad's SK stuff. I love it. It was just disappointing.

I missed SK day. That is life. I recently bought the 1/2 and 3/8 XXL breaker bars. I will soon order the 3/4 but I am curious if there is a 1/4 one. I know some people will say that is useless but I would like to have one if they make one.

I looked over all my tools and everything looked good to my eye. Used a few sockets and wrenches in the past two weeks at work. I also got the Ideal adjustable wrenches and they are pretty nice. Feel heavy and solid, and best of all they don't readjust themselves as you use them and flip them over.

Only thing that was a little iffy is the 5mm hex bit socket has the hex bit pressed in crooked. I found that near the end if the day this week before the holiday. I'll have to check the others and talk to SK about it.

Other than that one small issue, the chrome is great, sockets feel good, extensions extend...

Very happy with my purchas. Great job HJE.

I had that problem with one of their bits I just knocked it out and pressed it back in with a vise.
