I used to think that Snap-on was the ultimate, couldnt get any better tool. Now i must say, snap-on has its place but dammit i have to admit i do LOVE the feel of SK. My boss has a toolbox full of them and occasionally have to borrow some of his. My first expierence with them is from one of his ratchets and the whole time i was thinking 'man this ratchet just FEELS great!' yea its not 80+ tooth but something about that slightly coarser tooth count just doesnt feel bad on it. And the knurling on it to me feels great. Only bad thing i can say about the wrenches is the fact that they are just a bit shorter than what im used to (SO) but they feel better in my hands.
Anybody else a SK fan?

I have a few s&K tools. What little I do have I like. I do wish they were more readily available as I like to look before I buy quite often

The one i first used that made me fall for them was 45170(?) stubby 3/8 ratchet non-flex. But i bought a 17" 1/2 drive flex head ratchet and MAN do i like using that thing! I use it WAY WAY more than my SO 80 tooth 1/2 ratchet

Once I used a couple of the wrenches I liked them, but once I used the 3870 roto ratchet I was in love. Rugged and traditional.

Agreed... That is probably my Goto Ratchet for most chores, Sadly its not in Sk's currenty Lineup but hopefully that will change. If you watch Ebay its one of the few SK Ratches that still carries some clout in the Used market.

S-K Pro's are my go-to ratchet's in 1/4 & 3/8 drive. I have a good bit of their stuff, no issue's.

A truck or retail store would be nice though.

I've got quite a collection of the 3/8 RHFT ratchets, about 7 of them. I keep on buying them on eBay. I've got a single 1/4" and 1/2" RHFT (The Tuff-1 series), which are awesome. They are a little thick, but very tough.

I've also got one of the Franken-ratchets, its a really weird ratchet.

Would that be the Dual 80's?
No just the standard old Snap-On ratchets. I own a bunch of the S-K Tuff-one ratchets and several of the professional series, they are almost bullet proof, I have only broken a few and those were while in abuse mode.

I stop buying SK only when my tool dealer could no longer get SK tools during the Strike and sale of the company. My tool dealer just started getting new SK again, and I started buying SK again. The first Idea/SK tools I bought were a ratchet and a wrench to check out the deatail, fit, and finish. Everything looks good so far.

I'm a big fan of SK. I really wish I could get my hands on a full set of their old green and white handle screwdrivers.

I have never broken a 936 ratchet or a SK ratchet. SK does seem to be bullet proof. I've only broken on Snap On ratchet when useing it and it was a 830.

I have a whole mess of SK sockets and wrenches and for the money they are great. I love how thick the beams are on the wrenches.

Their full polish 21 piece wrench set is almost 1000 bucks from grainger!

Do you mean the long pattern SAE set (1/4" - 1 1/2")? It's about half that at Tooltopia. You can trim another couple hundred off if you don't need anything above 1 1/4".

I have a very good selection of SK TOOLS from the mid 60's that I purchased new when I first started in the business. I never liked the feel of the Snap-On wrenches, too skinny and hurts the fingers. SK TOOLS wrenches have a much better in the hand feel. I did however buy a new KRA 377D roll cabinet in the late 60's that I still use today. I have owned SK TOOLS almost exclusively most of my life. I have only had to install one ratchet repair kit in my oldest 45170, and that was last month. Not bad for a 44 year old tool. And yes, I used my tools every single day for over 40+ years. I just retired a couple years ago and still use them in my garage. My tools have some chrome wear, but they are as good as the day I bought them. I could never justify spending the money on some of the other name brand tools when SK TOOL has served me so well these many years.

The very first thing I bought with my very first paycheck was an SK mechanics set.

That was decades ago and they are still going strong.

All I have are 30 year old Frankenstein ratchets that I found still sitting on the shelf of an old outdated hardware store last year. I really want a 45170, but I don't know if it would get use over the snap on tools I have. The Frankenstein ratchets are kinda neat though

I like the SK tools that I have, I just wish it were possible to buy new ones other than mail-order! Have no idea how I'd warranty one if I broke it either, hasn't happened yet though.

Thread bump!! Original posts were from 2012, so I'm sure the new SK stuff has been out in the hands of plenty here!

I have a bit of SK. I love the sockets, like the screwdrivers, want some wrenches (I do have some flare nut wrenches), but don't really like the ratchets. They've never let me down, just don't really dig them.

I bought my first SK wrench and 1/4" ratchet 45 years ago in a mom & pop hardware store in Connecticut when I was 6 years old. It was the start of my love for tools. Have a complete SAE and metric set of wrenches and sockets from that time period. Sadly, I never bought any of the green & white screwdrivers. The ratchets and wrenches remain my goto tools.

I have my full set up metric wrenches, and a fistfull of ratchets, and a fair amount of sockets that I adore. They've been going strong since the 80s!

I recently found a brick and mortar store not too far from me that claims he does warranties on SK tools and sells new stuff. Pretty excited to check it out!

Huge fan of SK. I have a couple ratchets and a few sets of sockets. Looking at buying a set of SAE stubby wrenches and some locking extensions.

I have a soft spot because I have kept the SK torque wrench my Mom and Dad bought me to work on my MG almost a half century ago. I still use it! So I have fond associations with SK. I got a pawn shop SK ratchet a couple months ago. It's good, but then they all are really. I have noticed some cracked SK sockets in the bins. Never a cracked Craftsman. But maybe they keep their SKs unless they're cracked ;)

I have been looking for a SK 17mm medium deep 3/8 socket.

Most of my new tool purchases are SK. Theyre customer service has been good to me a lot better than most tool companies have been.
