Skat Blast in the House!

Finally after 5 months, my Skat Blast Cabinet is in the house, well the garage really.

After unloading it from the trailer today I put the cabinet in the spot I originally planned for it to go. Of course nothing is that easy, as I had to move a lot of things first.

Next is getting it set up to use. This will require some preliminary modifications like bolting on a set of wheels. LED lighting, general piping in of air lines, filters, etc.

But right now I'm glad to just have it in my shop and out of the rental garage it was stored in.

Congrats on getting your cabinet out of storage. I made a base frame w/wheels out of 1"x2" rectangular tubing for my **** blast cabinet, it makes it easy to move it around.

That turned out nice.

I'm going to do the same thing. I also want to bolt a shelf to the left side of the cabinet and mount the black Skat vacuum on it. Its pretty tall. You can see the Skat Vac next to the cabinet in the photo. That'll make the whole system mobile.

There are some companies out there that need to understand a name change is in order... Raise your hand if you turn on safe search when browsing for cam information.

Raise both if you'd turn it on before searching for one of those cabinets...

I've had a model 960 (I think) for something like 25 years. I bought the box that goes on the outside to over the air inlet to keep dust from escaping. I have a workbench directly behind the cabinet, so that's helpful.

My 960 has a small metal box welded to the back that sticks out about 1in & is open on two sides. It covers the round vent hole.

I also own a TP Tool cabinet...great investment! And I also built a frame with casters, and a shelf to store my media.

I have that same cabinet, and it's very handy to have. I built a base for mine to raise it up, so I didn't have to bend over to use it. I used 2 x 6's stood on edge on both sides and the back. I'm 6' tall, and it is just the right height for me to stand straight up to work.

I've had this Skat-Blast cabinet a long time. Was always stationary in my shop(s). However, in this small 1 car garage, I want to make it mobile so I'll be making those mods soon.

Thought you guys might like to see the original sales and shipping slip.

Purchased Date: July, 1994
Cost: $799.00
Shipping: $3.50

I also bought a TIP Pressure pot unit (photo 2) around the same time to round out my abrasive blasting capabilities.

Both units are in excellent working condition 25 years later.
