Slab question.

I am in the process of starting my garage project. I have an old unleveled slab and was planning on replacing it. Wanted to know if you can lay a new 4" slab over the old one. If I can, what is the options available.

I'll tack along if you don't mind since I have a similar situation.
My two car garage has one bay with cracked concrete and the other has gravel.
My idea was to pour a five inch slap over it since it needs to be raised anyway.

Probably need more info. Do you have a garage with an unlevel slab inside or are you building a garage over an already existing slab?

Is your garage walls sitting on the concrete? Or is it a pole building with a concrete slab inside? I would suggest taking up the old slab and leveling all the gravel to grade. We usually use strings set at the height we want for the concrete and run a 2x4 or 2x6 under the strings leveling the gravel or sand until we reach a uniform depth. Concrete is pretty expensive. Are you planning on using rebar or concrete wire or fiberglass in the concrete? I would suggest a grid of rebar and making a footing around the outside edge of the pour....to keep water out from under the concrete.
