My boiler runs on propane & I just had my tank filled last week & it took almost the whole 200 gallons. The total was over $720.00, so it's somewhere around $3.60 per gallon. :shocking:

I usually have my coal stove going, but had my living room under construction and didn't get it lit until 2 days ago. I'll probably cut the propane bill by over 70% next fill up.

I filled mine back in October or early November, I have a 500 gal tank, free rental.
I paid $2.19 that is with a $.10 break for giving the driver a check. Fortunately I only go through 2 fills a year. Around here if you can buy 3,000 gallons at a time you can get it for $1.29.

I bought K1 kerosene for the torpedo heater it was $4.10, ouch! Found a place that has just “kerosene” for $3.59.

Are LP companies hurting? One company keeps sending me letters - at least one per month - saying they're going to be in my area soon, which is funny 'cause they're in my area every week.

The other company just called me and asked if my tank is still locked and could they make a delivery. I told him no and he asked if he could call each month. I told him no, I won't need anything until the summer.

This is WHY my tank is locked.

Yeah my garage is by a few cabins that are usually vacant, but a common occurrence is the sound of this big propane truck pulling up to them and topping them off. I could never go for that. I would like to be there or bring my own tanks. When I get my boiler installed I am going to try the twin 100# tank route with a auto changeover setup. I can move them to my truck bed with my mini excavator and a sling so that way I can shop around and monitor my own fill ups. Am I wrong? (as Billo would say)

with co-op pricing I paid $2.21/gal for 425 gallons on Saturday. Bought my tank this fall after I felt the previous supplier was trying to put that hose somewhere it didn't belong. Still not the best at $2.21/gallon with the new place, but in the 2 fills I need for this year it will have paid for almost half the tank purchase. After next winter I'll break even on the tank purchase, then the co-op discount will become more obvious. I can buy outside the co-op if I find better pricing, but haven't yet.

The propane industry is a huge scam, IMO

Just got hit with a $400 bill this month. Price is $2.80 :( About a 50cent jump over last month.

For next winter we're either moving to a place that has natural gas, or going 90% pellets/wood burning. I say it ever year..but I REALLY mean it this time.

Ready for this?

I locked into a group buy @ $1.97 in August. We just got a bill for $5.50/ gal. It was a mix up, and they are correcting the billing issue, but damn! If that's the going rate around here right now, I'm surprised people are taking it quietly.

Who do you use, I am in south/central vt. and am being charged almost $3 a gallon, I have 2 - 100# tanks[ theirs] and this is my first experience with gas/propane, to heat the radient heat in my 36x40 garage.. By the way I am using haskins gas dorset.....bobbycoke

I was just filled up a week ago. Leased thank at $2.799/gal. 10 cent off per gallon for paying within 10 days, so effectively $2.699/gal.

A friend of mine just had his owned 1000 gal tank filled from about 50% to full for $1.83/gal.

I called a competitor of my company, and they said their price is $2.199/gal these days.

I'm going to have to have a talk with my propane company.

$4.11 for a propane delivery on a leased tank. Too much, just as well it is only for heating the garage.

I always call the company to check price before I fill my 120 gal. Back in Oct. it was 2.79 and last week it was 3.59 but when I complained they dropped it to 3.29.

I sometimes consider propane companies in the same light as the corner crack dealer in the 'hood. They seem to have different pricing for different people. I have a 250 gal. on my 1500 sq. ft. shop that lasts all year. The 500 on the house needs a fill more frequently. Filled them both last month for 2.09 gal here in southern indiana. 10 cents a gal. discount for paying the driver or within ten days. I always pay the driver, saves 44 cents.
