I'm disheartened to say that I’ve initiated a PayPal transaction dispute with Ian Hall. I hope that others do likewise to help prevent this from happening to others.

Ian,

If you are truly having health issues, I wish you well; meanwhile I just want to get my money back.

edit: You know what, screw it. I'm done. I've withdrawn all of my running sales and no longer am going to be participating on this forum. This is just never going to end, no matter what I do. I assume people will still be bumping this thread fifty years from now, after I'm dead.

Hoot, I'm not sure what the point of posting here was, other than just trying to make me look even worse. I think you know very well based on the resolutions in this thread, that a simple PM would have gotten you a refund. I haven't heard from you in weeks and I assumed everything was fine.

I keep trying to type a bunch of different responses here, but I just don't care any more. For anyone reading this and wondering, yes, I will tie up these last two lose ends. As I've said from the first word I typed in this thread, I have never stolen a dime, and never plan to.

My intent wasn't trying to make you look worse it was to get a reply. As of 12/1/11 the above is all I got. I'm sorry but I don't get online everyday and since this mishap it has made me not want to deal with online sales for a while.
I'll send you a letter in snail mail to make it clear one last time. I'd still much rather have the tools but if no resolution very soon then the USPS will be notified that you cash their MO's and never sent goods.

You obviously make good deals with others on here so I've never thought you were scamming me until the above message was posted. Now in my opinion you were/are, doing small transactions and trying to cash in on bigger scams. Just send me my tools or the refund is all I'm asking, it's been 3 months now. I think my patients is running out:mad:

I'm responding to everyone's concerns in one post here, so that I don't have to type out a bunch of PM's saying the same thing over and over. Yesterday was my first day back into town. I didn't really have it in me to face this thread yesterday.

I'm not bothering to give any justifications or reasons any more, because the effort I made previously was pretty much wasted. The reasoning for this can't be posted publicly this time... not that it would particularly matter, anyways.

I'm no longer able to reliably get items shipped in a timely manner as expected by today's internet buyers, and so I'm not interested in breaking any more promises, or causing any more worry. I'm not capable of carrying the moral debt that I'm placing upon myself.

I had, for some time, gotten things to the point where I was again shipping reliably and had my health issues under control, and they have now spiraled out of control again. That is why you all are seeing good feedback mixed in with bad. It's not because I'm playing favorites or trying to scam some people but not others.

There were actually about ten or so very timely transactions prior to this, unfortunately, people aren't in nearly as much of a hurry to take time leaving good feedback.

ALL transactions will be resolved by one week from today (probably sooner for most), whether that involves a full refund, or actual receipt of item. After that, I will be permanently retiring myself from selling online, at least in the forseeable future.

edit: I wanted to add, individual attention will be given to each of you, I just don't have anything to say right at this moment. Later tonight I will get the ball rolling.

I'm glad to see you show up, I've been watching the thread as my buddy is waiting on a $65 set of sockets. Hope you get it all worked out.

I most certainly will.

Even more important than me typing that here, is proving it next thursday when we all come back to this thread to check and see if I kept my promise. ;)

C'mon Ian,

Men are judged by their actions - not by their words.

Man up and do the right thing even if it means hiring someone to help you. This burden is obviously still troubling you so just get it done and put it behind you so that you can focus on what it’s going to take to get yourself healed.

Mike,

I'm not sure if you understood the intention of the post of mine you responded to. It's analagous in meaning to your above statement.

As I said before, nothing at this point matters beyond me keeping my promise to resolve the sales in a timely manner. I set Thursday as my deadline, and I'm still standing by it.

I'm not busting on you but rather trying to encourage and motivate you to complete the task at hand. If you need help packing, wrapping and running to the PO - then get some help - simple as that.

You are obviously aware and conscientious of the problem and it must be troubling you. I’m glad you returned to the forum – now you just need to act on your words.

I'm pulling for you to resolve the tool shipment issues as well as sincerely hoping for your return to good health.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that update.

As promised, here's my Thursday status post. All sales have been shipped via USPS Priority, and are currently showing active in the USPS tracking system. I didn't want to respond to the thread until I could confirm the packages were showing acceptance and movement in the USPS system.

The only sale to my knowledge that still is not resolved, is the socket set mentioned above by adamsredlines. The buyer never provided any shipping information after sending the payment, and there was no address provided via paypal. I contacted the buyer via PM, but have still not recieved any shipping information from him. I will continue to follow the situation, and if I'm not able to obtain shipping information from the buyer, I will refund him. edit: I just heard back from the buyer with a shipping address. The socket set will ship tomorrow. I will post back once I have a confirmed active tracking number.

Once the packages have all arrived and the buyers safely have their goods, I will pursue further resolution in the form of either partial refunds or freebies, at the discretion of the buyers.

After that, I will make good on my promise to discontinue selling, due to my personal issues. I will make sure to check on this thread and my PM's at least twice a day until I am given clearance by ALL buyers that they are satisfied with the conclusion of their transactions.

Update:

The tools arrived yesterday and are in the condition described. I have closed the PayPal Resolution Dispute against Ian.

I thought of stalling on closing the dispute to hold his account hostage for a few days...but that would simply put me in the same position as Ian. Fortunately PayPal’s dispute safeguards worked without having to escalate it to a claim. Dispute resolution is why I’m nervous about doing the PP/Gift option unless the seller has a long and good track record. Gifts are excluded from PP resolution – at least to my understanding.

I'm not happy - I'm not angry. I'm just glad this little saga is over for me and I hope that others find an amicable resolution in their deals with Ian.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Wrenching to all!:)

I would have just refunded your $22 and let you have the tools for free instead of letting my account sit there in the negative for no reason other than spite.

I had a long and good track record prior to my health issues... but that didn't stop a bunch of members from getting together and working themselves into a frenzy thinking I was scamming them.

Sometimes I think folks actually feed on the drama. edit: This is a general statement. I'm not trying to individually criticize anyone for being worried about their purchase. Just look at the view count of this thread vs. other threads its size. Some people eat this stuff up like a good television show.

The fact of the matter is, track record doesn't mean a DAMN. I had a perfect track record, and then the instant I screwed up, that was all forgotten in an instant.

When I was younger and in better shape, I ran a small repair business. I had HUNDREDS of satisfied customers over a period of years. I had a single transaction go foul and all of a sudden I was labelled as a scammer and a liar. I even ate the cost of the transaction, yet the stigma still followed me. People that had done business with me for years prior, and that I considered friends, all of a sudden wouldn't even answer phone calls.

Even worse, I ended up finding out that the guy that I "screwed" (even though I was the only one that lost anything) was a complete dirtbag himself, and took about 10 seperate people for nearly $40k in bankruptcy when he went under.

I'm not happy - I'm not angry. I'm just glad this little saga is over for me and I hope that others find an amicable resolution in their deals with Ian.

Everyone already has found resolution... you were the last person with an open dispute. ;)

I am still very sorry about this, but the fact of the matter is that I'm just not meant for selling online any more, that's why I've decided to call it quits. Even at my best, when I'm shipping promptly, I'm not cut out for it.

I've been buying and selling online pretty much since the beginning. One thing I can say, is that over the years since ebay and paypal started villifying the seller, and coddling the buyer, people have gotten more and more militant about smaller and smaller dollar amounts.

Additionally, people have become much more trigger happy with filing disputes and claims. It used to be that filing a dispute was an absolute last resort, only to be used in the most extreme cases. Now, people will file a dispute because the seller was ONE day late on shipping, or because there was a tiny rip in the packaging.

I've found that the more popular online selling becomes, the more scammers are popping up. Buyers get more and more paranoid, and more difficult to deal with each year. If you stack that up with entering a market that grows more and more slanted towards buyer's rights, things are just pretty much a big pile of **** for anyone that does any major amount of selling, whether they have issues like I have or not.

Everyone has found resolution? Still no sockets for my buddy I mentioned before.

I did not have his address until after the above sales were shipped. His sockets were shipped seperately.

In fact, I PM'ed him earlier today about them.

If he has any issues with receiving his sockets, or alternately, a refund, in a timely manner, I'm sure he's quite capable of visiting the thread and bringing it to everyone's attention.

Well much like you he's having issues of his own so I'm trying to help him out and make sure he recieves what is owed to him.

On the other hand, unlike you, he held up his end of the bargain in a timely manner despite those issues and is still waiting on his items while making his recovery.

It's admirable that you're looking out for him.

In all fairness, if clicking a few buttons was all it took for me to get these items shipped, then I certainly never would have gotten myself into this situation. At times, a couple hour round trip on a bumpy road to the post office, can completely redefine the word pain.

I'm not trying to excuse my poor performance in these transactions. In fact, the above is the very reason I've decided to stop selling online until I either change employment, or change my health situation (neither of which is likely in the near future).

Sorry, not interested. That's an old thread that was started in the wrong forum, and was bumped by someone completely unrelated to the transaction, who couldn't be bothered to come here to my feedback thread to check the status of the transactions.

That is my buddies post he still has not received his product...

Wrong:

Your item was delivered at 3:49 pm on December 17, 2011 in WACO, TX 76710.

Not wrong...when that was posted they still hadnt been delivered.

Glad you finally manned up...

Give me a ******* break... they were out on the truck for delivery as you hit "reply".

If you really know as much about your friend as you claim to... you could have easily checked the tracking number and gotten that info yourself.

Of course, you were coming here to start drama, weren't you?

Dude with the **** youve pulled you have no room to give attitude.

So you're taking the high road?

Isn't it funny how many folks who have NOTHING to do with this seem to be so interested?

This isn't anyone with genuine concern... it's a TV show.

Wrong again, as a good friend I try my best to look out for my friends, and when they are getting screwed over, I dont really give much slack. It ***** that you "have personal suff going on" but I assure you, you're not the only one with a life and issues...which is why I stepped in.

And these sockets were supposed to be a gift from him to another friend, which that occasion has come and gone because of your "personal issues" which werent much different than his. ***** to be in your position, but you shouldnt be giving attitude to those who are on the recieving end of your antics.

Well, I'm sorry that I ruined his surprise. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Of course, lots of people said that about me until I started having health problems.

**IN THE TRANSACTION THAT I AM REFERRING TO I WAS THE SELLER AND SLIPJOINTED WAS THE BUYER**

I don't see much buyer feedback around here. Seems like mostly seller feedback.

Anyhow, Slipjointed had commited to buying a wrench set from me and asked for my paypal address. He left me hanging for several days without delivering payment as he said he would. During that time there was interest in the wrench set and I turned away other buyers because I already had them sold. More time goes by only for Slipjointed to come back to me and say that he is backing out.

Not cool.

Slipjointed the buyer isn't much better than Slipjointed the seller from what I can tell.

This was the first, last and only time I will enter a transaction with him.

Several days? It wasn't even 24 hours.

I PM'ed you at 2:52PM on Thursday the 15th expressing interest. You PM'ed paypal info at 4:01PM on the same day.

That night, I decided against the purchase (which was supposed to be a christmas gift for my father) because I didn't get spouse approval, and even if I had, I wasn't sure if it would make it in time.

I PM'ed you at 10:46AM the very next morning, and told you I was backing out. I made sure to reply as soon as I was able, as I didn't want you to lose any other possible sales. You replied:

impactims said:
I will be sure to mention this in your feedback thread.

Deadbeat buyer AND seller.

I was holding them for you and in doing so refused another buyer.

Not cool.

I can't even remember the last time I backed out of a sale, I think maybe one other time.

That said, STILL, nobody has presented any actual evidence that anyone has been "scammed" or had anything happen to them other than having to wait, and this thread continues.

edit: I'm really done this time. I just can't take any more of this garbage. Obviously the actual truth of the matter doesn't really mean much, as long as we can create as much drama and interest as possible based upon distortion and assertation.

Anyone who did any business with me who still has a need to contact me can do so via the email they used for payment.

That's because you refuse to let it die and go away. As far as your pitiful try to get people to believe that all you did was ship slow, I still have all the PM's that you sent to me, making false claims of shipping items that you never did, and blaming other buyers for your delays.

Have you ever backed out of a transaction?

BTW, when I asked you if you were taking the high road, why did you ninja edit your earlier reply from this:

Suuuure... just trying to help your friend.

I broke quite a few promises... I think we've already been over that once, or maybe a hundred times.

Anyways, my earlier comment still applies. Anyone who needs to contact me, can.

Because when I got the reply in my email, it only showed the first part asking if I was going to take the high road...and I was gonna leave it to that...then I saw you had more to your glorious reply and I addressed it.

I know its hard to believe that friends look out for eachother as you obviously have none or they would have helped you take care of your previous commitments, but thats what friends do for eachother, and why I am involved in this mess.

It's funny, people keep saying I should leave the thread to save what's left of my reputation, but then they'll use my lack of response as an indication of the truth of their argument.

When you say "I am done" what are you saying you are done with?

Buying here?

Selling here?

Posting here?

Clearly you are still doing or trying to do at least two out of the three.

So, set the record straight and stick to your word, if thats possible.

What are you done with?
