looking for a 1/2 ratchet with the thinnest and narrowest head any suggestions

If the thinnest ratchet is what you're looking for, you can't beat a pass-through ratchet (unless you go for ratcheting wrenches, but then you lose the ability to use multiple sockets with one ratchet).

Even the thinnest standard ratchet will be much thicker than a pass-through ratchet once you put a socket on both.

Gearwrench makes a nice locking flex-head pass thru ratchet at a reasonable price:

Some firms offer basically a 3/8 ratchet body with a 1/2 inch square drive (similar idea to the more common 1/4 ratchet with 3/8 drive). Think Hazet offer one. There are probably others!

Nepros have recently offered a version of their 90 tooth ratchet in 1/2 drive, which I havn't seen but has got to be pretty sleek!

Failing that, if you can wait a little, KoKen are introducing a 1/2 inch drive version of their Zeal / Z Series. I have the 3/8 ratchet, and if the 1/2 inch is as good this will be a serious contender. Matching low profile sockets will probably be helpful too!

Armstrong, gearwrench and Matco. All apex group ratchets. Very thin heads. I use the Armstrong 12-994. Plus have the 118pc set in my trunk of my car for emergencies. It has slim 1/2 drive ratchet in set

Of the standard ratchets, I've always found the open gear head rats to be pretty minimal. Not as thin as the pass-thrus, but, bulletproof.

The new Wright open gears look especially nice.
