I guess it is about time I make my contribution here. Let me start off saying that thanks to this forum I was able to do things right the first time and get some great ideas for inspiration. I moved into this house back in July and have been wanting to get to the garage since we moved in. I finally got around to doing it after finishing out the wife's sun room.

The previous owner had laid the tile work in the garage and used it as a game room so when we first moved in I was not sure what to think about it but as I have given it some time it has been nice and held up to most of the work I do in the garage. I started off with painting the garage first and found this color scheme here from another user but can not remember where I found it or who ever did it first but all the credit goes to you if your paint looks the same. After the paint was done I ordered the Wall Control system form Shopstoragecabinets.com great service and quick delivery. I really like this system and like how well the hooks stay in and do not fall out when you take things off. My dad was so impressed with the system he ordered the same one the following week after helping me put it up. The next step was getting some more storage and a real work bench in the garage. I purchased the Saville work bench from Sams and am very pleased with how sturdy and easy to put together it was. I all purchased the Kolbalt jumbo storage locker and must say for the price this was one of the best storage cabinets I came across when putting it together every screw was in place and all I had to do was tighten the panel in place. My one complaint with it is that the doors have no real hinge and is just a spring pin that holds them on and acts like the hinge. I would not want to put any real weight on the doors even though they have peg holes. One of my favorite additions so far has been the shop vac mounted on the back wall. I wanted a small but high power vac and this one fits the bill perfect it is a 5 gal 5hp unit with a remote on off switch at the end of the hose and a hose long enough that I can reach all the way out to the drive way with it.

I hope this can help others with planning out their garage builds.

Nice spruce up, and the answer to what you do with your garage if you already have drywall. If space were more of a concern, I'd probably move the storage shelves down into the corner by the workbench, or go with narrow high shelves.

It must feel good to see what you have done.

Looking good. I like the paint job and tile. Are you pleased with those metal panels over the workbench?
I used the Wall Control panels in my shop, and ordered them in red like yours. I found them a bit pricey, but worth it. I also found they looked better trimmed out in wood frame.
Nice job!!

Nice Job, think another member on here may have that vac based on the specs you posted, although i can't make it out in the pic. Where did you mount it?

Here are some more pictures of the painting process. I took my time and it took me a full week of working on it each night and letting the paint dry properly.

I had that shelving previously and will eventually like to replace it with something else. I have to have it at the end of the garage so that my wife can park her car and get in and out of it. Since the pictures I have placed most of the stuff on it into the storage locker.

Nice job!!

I am very pleased with the wall control system I am looking at buying another runner to add to the one holding chairs. I have not had one peg come off while taking things on and off.

I have it mounted there on the wall it looks like it is sitting on the oil box but it is not. For now it seems like a nice placement but may have to move it once I get a real air compressor.

Thanks for the nice words guys it has been a dream to have my own after living in a apartment for the last 10 years. This is one of the best forums out there with such a great diversity of hobbiest and professionals.

Looks great, thanks for posting the closer pics. I really like that Kobalt cabinet, i'm sure its extremely useful and hides your water heater. Perfect spot!
