It's been several years since I've visited GJ, though the lock-down has freed up some time to browse the boards...
I realized that I had never posted pictures of my latest garage... We moved to a very cool house on a beautiful chain of lakes connected by the Huron River near Ann Arbor Michigan about 5 years ago. It was a project home that needed several updates as it had previously been owned by the proverbial little old lady. Luckily we didn't need to sell our old house until all of the interior / exterior remodel projects were complete.
Of course the most important project was the garage! Unfortunately when the previous owners built the house they only wanted enough room for 3 cars - I will eventually build an extension for a further 4 cars and create an 'L' shaped garage with a chill out area in the middle. But, to make it livable for now we threw some money at it & opened it up so at least it 'feels' larger than it is.
This is what I started with.... Note the gusset wall that supports the door tracks & openers - I knew this would need to go so that we could enjoy the high ceilings:
Bare stud walls & definitely void of any thrills.
I realize now that I really didn't take any 'in progress' pictures - probably due to the fact that each time I visited during construction I was bombarded with questions about how I wanted things done.
We all like instant gratification & pictures though, right? Here's what we ended up with in just over 40 days - including doubling up the ceiling joists, running a gas line for the heater, all new electical, lighting, insulation, drywall, paint and flooring:
Still need to hang my latest piece of garage art - the V10 skull!
I'll post up some pictures of the other cars that will eventually join these 3 once the extension is complete next year.
