Small Engine Carb Bowl & Electric Starter

How in the heck does this 13hp small engine carb bowl attach to the carb?!?!

The hole in the bottom is for the fuel shut off solenoid

Press fit? Twist lock?

I've never encountered this before, usually it's bolted on

That is where to bolt goes to attach the carb bowl. A very common design. That is a GX390 carb?

what does it look like? snap a pic of the carb side of the solenoid and the carb tube itself

No, the bolt goes there first then the solenoid is mounted on after it

You can even see the outline of the hex head on the carb bowl.

It might be a Honda clone? 389cc 13hp

I was doing some motor cleaning and bumped into the bowl and it fell off........

The bolt I showed above is broke in half on yours leaving part of it in the carb.

The other half should be able to be pulled off the solenoid if it’s not frozen. You will have to extract the other half out of the carb

It’s brass and it broke where it was cross drilled? But an aftermarket one is probably less than 50$

Technically that is not the emulsion tube. The emulsion tube is the (typically) brass piece above the main jet in that passageway.

Clone carbs are 50/50. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I have had good luck with Hipa carbs.

The bowl was full of junk, even though it ran and started

I need to pull the electric starter also and fix the electric start feature

Just want to add that the last 3 "aftermarket" (cheap) carbs I got did not work worth a darn and ended up replacing them with OEM for not that much more. One was for my snow thrower and the other two were for a couple of leaf blowers I was fixing for friends.

Amazon no name carb is $23-$33 shipped

I found the carb bowl bolt for sale, it's like $23 plus tax and shipping!

I'lll probably need a carb bowl gasket also that's around $10 plus tax and shipping

I'm going to pony up and just spend $55 for the OEM carb, that comes complete with a new fuel solenoid

I just do not want to pay alot for the starter and figure there has to be a more universal starter available for this PT1300EG engine

My experience with lower priced knock-off starters is that if DB electrical doesn't have it, you don't get it.

I don't think I zero'd the calipers when I measured before?

I checked the block and the old starter this morning

It's definitely closer to the 84mm of the 11hp-13hp starters online for a fraction of the cost of the OEM unit

Again this is for a 389cc 13hp engine

Get a measurement to the outside edges of the holes, then subtract one hole diameter, will be accurate. Alternately measure inside edges, then add one hole diameter.

Or if the holes are the same diameter, edge to matching edge is same as center to center.

I took off the stock carb and ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner. Looks great!

Now if I can find a replacement carb bowl bolt for the fuel solenoid that isn't $35 and coming from the UK

I would assume this bolt can be purchased separately from having to buy the entire carb assembly

A GX340/GX390 Starter Motor was a direct replacement, fit perfectly

It also cross references to the Predator, Generac, Duromax 389cc 420cc 439cc

petty much a universal starter for 11hp-13hp engines

New air filter, gasket bowl gasket and bowl bolt should arrive today

I wanted to keep the carb OEM and not risk issues with a $25 Amazon carb, so I took it all apart and just threw it in the ultrasonic cleaner

It ran great before the bowl bolt broke so I'm hopeful it will start and run great this week......

Fresh oil
New spark plug
New air filter
New starter and solenoid
New fuel filter
New 12V battery

Bought it for $80

I did initially order the carb but returned it after it arrived and I noticed several design differences

I had to order the bowl bolt from the UK!!!!!

I feel better knowing that the motor will run with the quality OEM carb
