Even if that's a 2 ton bottle jack, that tap has to be at least 3-4" given the peg hole spacing...might be a tapered tap for pipe?

I see 3 1/2 x 8 UN

That’s 3 1/2“ x 8 t.p.i. Unified.

Part of the 8 t.p.i. “constant pitch” series, designed to be used where the regular UNF, UNC etc are unsuitable.

In this case I believe the 8 tpi series are intended for large diameter / high pressure joints.

If you needed a tap that size, it’s generally going to cost you more than $150…..!

Wonder how much a tap handle that fits it is going to cost? Is it a 2 man operation?
I often chuck a tap socket in my drill to make quick easy work of it but I don't see that working with that one.

$150 price tag seems a little odd to me. A tool like that is worth a great deal more than $150 if you need it. But if you don't need it then it is almost worthless. I might pay $10 or $20 as a curiosity, but I can't imagine ever having a need for it so I wouldn't waste more than that.

We had several in that size when I ran a tool room in the USAF for cleaning threads on fuze wells in mk82 and mk84 bomb bodies.

Obviously an optical illusion, the jack is further back on the table!

I used to have to tighten bolts that big every once in a while. The wrenches and sockets are dang big and heavy.

I bet a lower offer would get it pretty easily.
