Don't get all caught up on the highest SEER rating when shopping. They are all pretty darn efficient. It's diminishing returns as they go up and when running on lower speed, there's even less difference. Plus - with a unit that small if it only costs $50 vs $40 per month to run it (probably less), you'll never make up the difference in cost. I've got two 18 seer 24k units in my 40x50 workshop in north Texas and it runs about $100-120/month to run them both in the summer. Add that to the fact that 1/2 the year they will be turned off and the garage door open, there's no way I'd ever make up the initial cost.

From the highest SEER 33 to SEER 16, basically it is double the electric cost at minimum, if you believe cheap mini-split's efficiency claims are correct, generally they are not. E.g. looked up the Blueridge unit's AHRI certificate,. as mentioned in a previous post. There is no data posted in the document to show anything.

I have (5) minisplits all SEER 33, HSPF 13.8,.... 1080 sqf garage, 1250 sqf home , standard insulation, both cooled,....lights, big refrigerator, well, HP water heater etc , my bill last month was $59.00 @ $.18/kw , I am single, and yes it was not 90° everyday, average about 85-87 °
