Don't get all caught up on the highest SEER rating when shopping. They are all pretty darn efficient. It's diminishing returns as they go up and when running on lower speed, there's even less difference. Plus - with a unit that small if it only costs $50 vs $40 per month to run it (probably less), you'll never make up the difference in cost. I've got two 18 seer 24k units in my 40x50 workshop in north Texas and it runs about $100-120/month to run them both in the summer. Add that to the fact that 1/2 the year they will be turned off and the garage door open, there's no way I'd ever make up the initial cost.
