so i had a nice clean pintle hitch from a old gm square body truck or blazer i saved from years ago . then i had a old chuck of solid 2x2 from a old weight dist hitch the head was bad on i scrapped a friend gave me . i hit up my buddy who is a machinist and he had a cut pile of stuff and i found some 3/4" plate just the right size . so i marked out were i needed some holes and radius the corners .

here is the end result between his help and my ability's . burned it in with my lincoln power mig 216 220v mig and bolted it on with 1/2" grd 5 bolts and stover lock nuts . bonus is this will be a 6" drop or raised hitch since the pintle is a swivel unit .

It looks nice but I'd have welded it with 7018s. Unless back-beveled the Mig looks beautiful but has minimal penetration. Sorry that's not intended to be negative but this is a high confidence part that can put others in danger.

That looks like it's going to put a lot of tension on the the area where tube is welded ,depending in what you pulling with it.

Properly welded, mig welds will hold the same a an arc weld done with 7018... however having a gusset, even short one, behind the tube/ plate transition would give me a warm fuzzy feeling....

got it fitted and marked for a gusset already .

its more of a i have it hitch than a need it hitch .

and the lincoln power mig 216 is a BIG BOY unit she got lots of heat in there . and there was a bit of a bevel on the front side before burn and a hole on all 4 corners down the sides that got filled up and burned to the solid stock .

my friend was over today with his truck and pintle and his has the same amount of drop and its made of china steel and has yet to break .

Nice work.
I think something else would break before this component does...
