My garage has a bathroom/shower then another room I put a washing machine in.
It's a temporary horse tack room but I had moisture problems, mold on leather, etc.
I ordered this small dehumidifier but you're supposed to empty container, instead I drilled/tapped and put a brass hose connector in it, and a hose going to washer drain. I put JB Weld around connector also.
It's been running over a year and works great. Hopefully this idea may help someone. Rooms are insulated 12x12.20210426_162234.jpg20210426_162241.jpg20210426_162252.jpg

Nice idea on the drain.

I'm in the process of buying a house with a fallout shelter under the garage the seems to have a moisture issue, I'm going to do the same thing.

I have that exact one on my boat and did the same thing to hook it to a drain. Has been working great for 5+ years.
If it ever quits working like mine did a few months ago take it apart. There's a circuit board inside with two bad capacitors (1000ufd @ 16 volts as I remember). The tops were swollen. Replaced them and works again.

Ventilation only works if the outside air is less humid and is the desired temperature. Thats very unlikely..........

Since 1994 I have been using Damp Rid which is a desiccant flaked chemical that absorbs moisture in rooms. It just takes routine emptying of the bucket(s) about every 2-3 weeks during the warm months and purchasing Refill product in the 42 oz. bag or 7.5 lb. jug (Walmart.com).

We rented a condo with a dehumidifier in Galveston last week. Worst part was having to empty the bucket twice a day. Would have been nice if they had plumbed it like this

I have a few of those exact same dehumidifiers, I used to put them inside vehicles to control moisture when I stored them in a rented space with no climate control. Good little mod!
