tl;dr: I'm looking for suggestions on a smart lock (would really prefer keypad, but Bluetooth or other technologies may work) that will work with the latch guard I already have on the shop door.
At my last home, I had a Schlage keypad deadbolt on the shop door. Very convenient to open, and I never needed to carry a key. It also did Z-wave, which was cool, but I didn't end up using that feature as much as I'd thought I might.
New house, new shop. The new shop is a metal building with steel doors, which aren't cut for a deadbolt--just the main lock. They also have a latch guard installed:
I'm not really wanting to remove the guard, since that would leave two holes through the door and a third in the door jamb. So I need something that will fit in that space and not interfere with the guard.
Right now, the closest match looks like the Kwikset Kevo. The outside form factor is the same as a standard deadbolt, and the "touch to open" is convenient enough. It's a deadbolt rather than a latch, though. Any other suggestions?
