If so you can't tell.

Supplying tools is their business. Of course they can help it.
But there are probably good reasons, as noted by others, why they choose not to. High inventory and working capital levels make a company less nimble and less able to invest. It probably makes good sense to campaign production every so often rather than keep everything in stock.
***** if one gets in the queue at the wrong point on the production wheel, of course. But in many ways this could be a sign of a well-understood supply chain. 'Course, it could be just the opposite, too -- we don't have enough info to know.
Biomed, I've been waiting a month for a 1/4 williams flex head.
Sounds like a bit of a joke for a professional company.
I'm kind of peeved off with snap-on. I ordered a 3/4" general service set that retails at $1300 over a month ago. Last time I talked to them I was told that they would be shipping out by the end of this month. I called customer service today to make sure they were still on schedule and now I'm being told that they MIGHT ship out right around the second week of July. I ordered it on the 21st of last month. Is it just me or is snap-on waaaay to expensive to make you wait almost 2 months for a $1300 tool set??
Takes me about 30 minutes to go get a tool I need but...what do I know. Maybe buy it off the truck or from another truck company; probably not a "usual" policy for snap on but I can't see a professional that would tolerate twiddling their fingers waiting that long, even the mail in part.
It's a hollow setup, snap on needs to get stores or some sort of regional distribution/warranty setup (or change the agreement they have with their driver licensees so they can get stock sooner or replace stock sooner).
Funny me too. Same ratchet, same wait.
My ct661 was on backorder for 6 months, buying online from snap on and they kept pushing the date back. But it was worth the wait.

I'm being facetious but I mean if you need something that kind of wait is just prohibitive
The new trend is "just-in-time" manufacturing... this is where a product is delivered from production the to the distribution center and send out all within very short period of time - in an ideal situation it would all happen in the same day - with this way of doing things there is no "in-stock" inventory. What this does is it reduces overhead, handleing and warehousing cost. To you and me it makes no sense at all, but for a company set on getting every nickle and dime out of a product it saves them money... although I don't see that cost savings being pasted onto the end customer.
I was following up once a month on my 6 month ct661 on back order and the last month I asked if it could be changed to green.... I think they would have changed it but they said they don't make a green one. I would have thought I would have been compensated in some other way, they were well aware of the long wait.... But I didn't complain, so maybe that's why.
That's a crazy wait! And to think you could walk in to pretty much any lumber or big box store and buy a milwaukee fuel.
I ordered a set of 1/4" drive Williams metric sockets (USA manufactured) from a very large Snap-on Industrial dealer three weeks ago. The sales manager told me to expect a 4-6 week wait minimum. He also told me that Snap-on has really been pushing the just-in-time inventory stuff and they are not very good at it.
