On a related note, I just bought one of those Bahco-manufactured Harley-Davidson 9-piece ratchet sets.

While inspecting it, I noticed some Snap-on-like characters on all the pieces & I wondered if they were date codes... Sure enough, they match the codes from this updated Snap-on chart for the year 2003 (for the ratchet) and 2002 (for the sockets & extension)!

Has anyone else noticed this on Bahco or Williams pieces?

Some Williams are date marked & some aren't.
No idea about Bahco but I would guess the same as Williams.

Some of the bits from my Bahco screwdriver are date coded 2002. I have Williams Combination wrenches date coded 2000, 2001, and 2002. And my Williams made Kobalt wrenches are date coded as well-mostly 1998 with a few 2001 that I picked up in an ebay lot.

Yep, both the Williams made Kolbalt and Bahco uses the same Snap On markings; funny I didn't noticed that before ... :)

I can not see the chart, can someone repost? Please...

I can see it just fine, but here it is again. BTW I printed several copies and had them laminated in plastic at work and keep them in my Snap-on catalog.

I have an old ratchet that is stamped snap on milwaukee usa. It does not have a direction selector, you must push the socket holder out and flip it to the other side. The only number that I can find is a seven. The number is on the ratchet head itself. Would this date back to 1927?

If it has a 7 on it, and Milwaukee, its 1927. Snap on moved to Kenosha in 1930.

Post a pic for us!

some people PMd me as the picture was gone. AOL stopped hosting images, so I re-uploaded it with photobucket and edited the original post.

where can I find values of the older Snap-on tools?
I have a mint 1928 drag link driver, a pre-chrome era vacuum grip needle nose and many others that I inherited as a child (40 years ago) from my grandpa and I still have them

Post pics of what you have, and I can help. Prices are based on ebay market value, as thats what sets the price 90% of the time.

So is it normal for socket sets to have a mix of years? say like a 09 and 08? One I have is all 2010, with one 09.

I have a 15 inch 1/2 square drive ratchet from 1939 that still works and there is one thing it still has.It still has the original brass lever and I been told by the dealer down the road in my area the brass lever is obsolete replaced by aluminum if it breaks.

Looks like there is no date code after 2029. That must be the end of the world.
