I would guess it’s a retired dealer or flipper, not a current dealer.

SO prohibits their franchisees from selling outside their territory, they can lose their franchise if they’re caught violating their terms of agreement.

I've been eyeing a few things from that seller, good prices.

I always wonder what the deal is with these sellers, since they can't be dealers. There's a few that seem to have endless amounts of new snap on stuff.

Always been guys selling slightly used Snap-on tools. Either at the swap meets or through the paper Buy and Sell.

Same story in 1980 or now. Bought them from a somebody that was short of money, am a mechanic with too many tools or somehow they just fell off the tool truck and I happened to find them

It would be virtually impossible for Snap-on to trace the seller if he wants to remain anonymous to them. There is no reason it could not be a dealer.

Wamsutta, thans for the tip. Its really pro tool-guy move to recommend a good seller. I'll check the offerings and will save the seller for later. :)

When the kids get hungry, papa has to do something. Sometimes liquidate inventory for unreported cash.

I'll bet a sandwich eBay will work with Snap On - at their request - to identify the seller if Snap On makes the claim someone is violating their franchise agreement.

I haven't read the Snap On franchise agreement in years. Does anyone know if it prohibits straw purchase activity? I'll be another sandwich it does. Otherwise what's to stop a dealer from selling in volume to his BIL who has an eBay store selling Snap on?

It wouldn't be that hard or expensive for Snap On to task a couple marketing interns with buying from these eBay dealers and tracing wholesale purchases for nearby dealers.

At over 42,000 people leaving feedback for him I don't think he started selling because the kids were hungry. He is a heavy duty seller. I looked at one wrench set and it said 30 sold. My only issue with the guy is the dog hair all over a torque wrench I looked at.

He really has too much inventory not to be a dealer. He might be selling below list price but, the question is if he's selling above dealer cost.:dunno:

There was a guy a few years ago or so that had stolen pallets of snap on stuff and sold it on ebay. I can't find the thread at the moment but, he sold a lot of red ratcheting screwdrivers to journal members.

Snap-on police, on the case. "Book'em, Danno!" This is absurd. I'll bet a sandwich there are bigger fish to fry right now.

Fall, I'm sure that's right. Until it's not.

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned feeding their family. We've all heard the stories about how difficult it can be to run a tool franchise. Imagine a tool dealer rolling into one account after another where there are more and more tools he didn't sell. At some point he's going to call the home office to complain. If enough calls come in Snap On would be wise to do something about it to protect their franchisees and protect their business model.

I like getting Snap On and other tools at discount prices on eBay. I also understand if SO does what they feel is necessary to protect their business.

Fall, if you're ever on the East Coast and see a Wegmans supermarket, stop in and try the sub shop. Great sandwiches!

Couple of minutes of research shows that the seller is Save Money on Tools based out of George West, Texas. Used to operate out of a storage facility in Indianapolis before moving to Texas. He never knows quite what inventory he will have.

Lots of times pawnshops have new/near new Snap-on tools guys needing cash. People selling student discount tools, guys selling their company tool allowance stuff. Other than that its a grey area where somebody in small town America would get hundreds of Snap-on tools to sell
