I notice this ongoing debate about Snap On Dual 80 ratchets being made overseas and not here in the USA. Does anyone know where they are really made? I'm not looking for assumptions or speculations, just hard facts. :)

It's a mystery. It may be made in the USA now (big maybe) but a year from now I'm sure it won't be on enough of it that they legally can't put USA on it. There is a reason for everything, This is no exception. Excellant ratchets at any rate

Apparently some guys who are putting it together in a factory seem to think they're still in the US, but I'm not ruling out teleportation after they walk through the door. :dunno:

There is a reason why it does not say USA. It's not made in USA

you guys, snap-on was playing a prank with everyone. If you take the internal gears out of the head and look inside there is a small USA stamp inside.

Dual 80s are made in China. If you want a real ratchet buy a Matco thats made in the USA.

J.A.F.E. , you forget that people do not believe what the company says even though they put it in writing.

BTW, long time no see, how is it going?

to my knowledge, it has yet to be proven that they aren't US made. There is, however a lot of evidence pointing towards them being US made, including Snap On, a 90 year old world leading tool company, clearly stating that they're US made on every piece of advertising and documentation regA that happens to make these ratchets. I don't have the resources nor the need to prove that they're made in China or wherever so hows about the conspiracy theorists of the board bring some proof to the table other than speculation to support their theories.

The way I see it, those ratchets are the nicest ratchets I've ever owned, they're smooth like butter and they have an excellent lifetime warranty. If Snap On is confident enough that they're US made to publish it on their website and on every piece of supporting literature for that series of ratchets, then that's as good as a stamp on the tool for me.
