I was at a police auction over the weekend and purchased a "bag of burglar tools". It was a black backpack full of tools. Inside was a Snap-on FHF936, a couple of Mac screw drivers, 2 large pair of ViceGrip branded pliers. There were also a couple of beat up crappy Craftsman clear handle screw drivers. Some Stanley Screw dirvers, a cheap hammer, utility knife and an AmPro branded folding knife that holds utility blades. Hey at least for the most part the theif had good taste in tools LOL. And for the $20 bid I won with I'm not complaining either way..
Anyway the FHF936 was a bit gritty feeling so I took it apart for a good clean/relube and noticed that one of the pawl teeth is partially sheared.
I don't want to go taking advantage of the warranty considering how I came about obtaining this. I'm just wondering, would Snap-on sell me the head for that ratchet that takes the Dual 80 gear? Of if I called and was honest with them would they at least sell me a 36tooth rebuild kit (hopefully without it costing a fotune)? The rathcet istelf is clean and nice looking even the comfort grip handle. The gritty feeling was the shaving of the pawl tooth grinding around in there.
