I’ll cut right to the chase, I have a Snap On FR80 with a broken indicator switch. When I say broken, the selector lever part snapped off (no pun intended). Truthfully it looks like it was made of pot metal. It was not purchased from a truck, nor do I have access. Looked at Snap On and it’s not available. I hope I don’t have a really expensive paper weight. And yes I have a pic to prove it.

*mini rant. I’ve had plenty of cheap ratchets over the years and this never happened!

Call up the customer service line, they should be able to ship you a rebuild kit. I have the same ratchet and got a rebuild about a year ago.

Edit: the kit comes with a new selector.

E-mail snap-on and see what they say about it, perhaps claim you got it off a truck ages ago and have lost the receipt.

In the time it took you to write the post you could have emailed snap-on. I sent them a question last week and they responded in minutes.

Some guys a little rough today.

Go to snap on's website and find the customer service link. Fill out the form and explain what's broken. They will either send you a new selector or rebuild kit if they still have them. If not then they will most likely send you a replacement ratchet. Quick and easy.

I don't recall the new rebuild kits including a selector switch.

I just got an RKRA711 back in November to rebuild my old SL710 and it did have a selector switch. Idk if dual 80 is different.

It is funny how much hand holding some members need to get ahold of customer service phone numbers. It's called Google, folks...

It depends on the ratchet the FR80 selector switch includes the shaft that turns the cam so mine came with a new one. Another ratchet I have the selector switch is held on with an Allen screw to the selector cam so I had to reuse the old one.

There's a good chance that they'll warranty it but even if they don't the $10.50 P673297 rebuild kit includes the lever. The website clearly shows that.

I know they come with a selector, if they don't repair all your out is $10.50 and some time be back like new.

I hope I don’t have a really expensive paper weight.

As everyone has mentioned, this is a max $10 fix SO customer service kicks *** if you don't abuse it. They are quick to pick up the phone and will help you to solve your problem.

Reasons to not like snap on are many, some people don't like the price, some don't like the truck, etc...but don't be a jerk (scammer, etc) and their cust service is almost always top notch.

The diagram shows that the kit includes the lever.

I have had great customer service with snap-on. Like anywhere else it really depends on who you are dealing with. 10 dollars {if that is the price} to fix a kick *** ratchet. Really one of the best ratchets you can buy, priced around $100. 10 dollars is no problem. You might even get the lever for free. I would just ask for the lever and see what they say.

My car ran out of gas, what do I do??????

Considering the part I need is “unavailable” according to Snap On’s website I think it’s a pretty legitimate question.

Your smartass answer would have been more accurate if it was phrased as

“My car ran out of gas, and the gas stations are out too, what do I do??????”

I would call SO Customer Service just to verify. Let the rep know your circumstances. Including the WebSite showing none available. I did this when I had problem locating an item on the Website. SO rep had the item sent to me.

If the lever is really unavailable they will send you a brand new replacement that they consider equivalent. Either way, if you don’t contact them, well, you are just trolling.

So, here's the thing.

You have a Snap-on tool. Your tool has a lifetime warranty. Assuming you're the original purchaser, and therefore, your warranty is valid, the ratchet is still produced, and there's repair kits still available.

I think that's the reason why there's comments poking fun at you - call for warranty service. Don't worry that the single part you want isn't in stock. Just call, and let them handle it how they choose to handle it.

I just wanted to say that's a real cool drawing they got of the FR80. :)

And if you click on it, it gets super big. :)
