I'd still love to see them try to get 1600 pounds. I didn't know snap on and Sioux were pretty much the same air tools.

I'm not a fan of the mg725, think it's big awkward and heavy, so I bought a 2235ti, but I wouldn't trade my mg325 for anything. Thing rocks.

My driver showed me the unit over a week ago.
I said Oh the plastic one. He said composite. I said no 1950's Japanese plastic?
Been using the electric one so I have been happy, but when I need one for a nitrogen bottle I will look at that unit.

I've used 3/4 - 1 inch guns that are weaker on paper, but will remove things my 2235 will not. Like you said they use much bigger components and more air - we ran a dedicated compressor with 1 inch feed like to 3/4 air line.

They hit different than the smaller hammers in the 1/2 class. 1/2 is more of a rattle gun versus the big guns hard steady hits. Just my opinion.

And I'm not worried about 1600, like you said it'll be an approvement over the 725 either way.

The 3/4 and 1" probably aren't actually rated lower, just differently. Most 1/2 drive guns advertise their "nut-busting" torque, which is misleading. Their working torque (sometimes called max torque) is the better number. The IR2235 only have ~930 ft-lbs of working torque, meaning that many 3/4 and 1" guns rated at 1100 or 1200 ft-lbs are actually significantly stronger than it (3/4 and 1" drive guns don't have the same marketing behind them, so "nut-busting" isn't tested or advertised for them, we'd see much higher numbers for 3/4 and 1 if it was). The heavier anvil also helps for the same reason the lisle 19MM honda crank bolt sockets helps underpowered 1/2 guns remove the crank bolt.

A lot of people on this forum like to inaccurately compare nut-busting of smaller 1/2 guns to the working torque of 3/4 impacts to try to say their 1/2 are stronger, but they really aren't.

The Sioux wrench is marketed as an assembly wrench and has been around for a while. It was in their January 2015 catalog. I'm not sure where the information about the guts being the same as the Sioux came from? Comparing the spec sheets between the Sioux & MG725, the Sioux is less powerful. It doesn't seem like Snap On would make their new gun less powerful than their old one...

:/ talked to my dealer about this, and I just bought my MG725 about 17 days ago.. I told him I'll return the MG and exchange for the PT. He straight up told me "you don't want that gun. It's weaker than your MG right now." I gave a blank face and said "oh..Okay..?" Please tell me, is he just trying to stretch the 30 days return on my MG?

It performs comparable to the MG725. In fact the two share some parts since the MG725 was updated last year. Depends if you have some love for the single piece magnesium alloy housing (over plastic) and its reverse/forward setup. I'd get the PT850 for the improved balance and noise but that's me. I could of said the same if we were talking about MG725 vs 2235QTIMAX let alone SO vs SO though...

Since you have ready access to a dealer see if he'll let you test the two side by side for a day.

Not trying to throw my dealer under the bus but he's not the type to have 'new' items. He never even knew about the extra long flex 1/4 ratchets until I told him the part number..

Its called PT850 so I suspect 850 will be its max torque. That's generally how their most recent naming scheme works anyway. In fairness to anyone thinking it should be more powerful it looks to be half an inch shorter and 6 ounces lighter than the 2235. Its still a giant move in the right direction considering the number 1 complaint with SO impacts by far is their ergonomics and weight distribution.

Why isn't the number 1 complaint price? Ergonomics should be at least number 2. It is very pretty though!

Because $500 with a set of free swivels isn't a bad deal at all. A 2235 is $300 ish so it's not that far out

At 810 Max reverse torque, that's 120ft-lbs less than the max torque on an IR2235. Brand new design and it's already behind an impact that has been out for a few years...

Also behind the even older Mac AWP050 (and the cheaper proto version of that), the pretty new Matco MT2769, several old air cat models....What has Snap On been up to in developing this impact???

It's only a few ft-lbs stronger than the 2135 TiMax that is 13-14 year old design! This would have been cool if they came out with it at the turn of the century.

810 ft lbs of reverse torque and 1190 breakaway.... if I remember those are the exact same specifications as the mg725 which has already been passed up.

I'll be keeping my 2235ti that whoops on the snap on guns.

I love my mg325 so I'm disappointed in this gun.

Only two things surprise me.

The first is that it does indeed appear identical to the Sioux in performance where I thought it might be tuned to use more air and increase power (not the case).

Second is that they rode the MG725 for as long as they have only to copy its performance when they finally got around to fixing many of the ergonomic complaints. Seems like this update would of been more prudent 5 or 6 years ago.

That said the MG725 performance is still very good so i'll probably pick one up at some point once the price on street becomes reasonable.

I love my mg325 so I'm disappointed in this gun.

I actually think that's SO and IRs missed market opportunity right there. The MT2220 and AWP038 are far and away more powerful than the old 325/2115 that im surprised we still don't see something in the middle yet like an MG/PT500 or 2125.

Has anyone actually ever had experience with air nesco? But I too recognize the flyer, used to work there.
