Ahh the 70th Anniversary KR1000 Box. That's a keeper! Those were the first in the SO series of truely monster boxes and 20 some years later are still unbeatable.
Sublime my man![]()
Mine has the matching top and side boxes![]()

Wow yout set up how long has that collection been going

These boxes were the first ever with ball bearing drawers. I would get so pissed off when someone would slam a drawer shut on my box still do. Sorry about the crappy/messy pic space is real tight at the moment. I'm in the middle of a cross country move as well. I feel sorry for the guys that will be moving this later this month.![]()

What is the model # for the top chest kr??? I need to find one of them!! What did you pay for your setup?
what i like best about my kr1000 is the size of the drawers, how well the drawers slide with all that weight, double bank, large work surface, nice drawer layout.
what i don't like, the handle on the side is very stupid looking and non removeable, You can remove it don't remember if you have to take a drawer or two out It's been a while but mine was delivered with it off and it's on now the secret compartment is pointless, I stash some long tools and things I want locked up during the day inside it the lock sometimes works (have to slam the drawers for them to catch sometimes), the retainer humps have all broken off (that small nudge pushing the drawer shut gives a secure feeling the drawer is closed all the way). another bad thing is the drawers cannot be configured differently. Agree But you can work around that very rock solid. it took me and my dad and the person we bought it from to push it up a trailer ramp onto the trailer. its really heavy. a morter going off next to it would not have any effect on the toolbox.

Love my KR1000 and my KR1100, but the long drawer in the KR1100 is really not intended for much weight. Handles my screwdrivers OK, but you wouldn't want to put sockets, etc. in there. The 48 inch drawer is prone to dragging, even with new slides.

Twenty years worth of opening and closing without an issueI also used to keep a complete 3/4 socket set up to 2 inches in there as well

drawers cannot be configured in different patterns like the KRL series boxes after this box.
you can move around same size drawers (some of the drawers have built in dividers) so it can better suit your tool display. you can clearly see the dividers i am talking about in my 3/8" drive drawer, pliers drawer, red tool cases drawer

My KR1100 is from 1987. Date on the back. What year is yours from?
Mine never had much in the long drawer.
It drags at about 20 lbs.
Some came with a center 'stabilizer' according to SnapOn tech support.
That's also mentioned on their site.
Mine did not come with this stabilizer. Nor have the other two I've looked at since I bought mine a few years ago.
I suspect yours has the stabilizer.
You can no longer get the stabilizer if it goes bad.
It's supposed to go in the center, according, again, to SnapOn tech guy.
