I don't have a regular dealer, so it's hard for me to get the BOGO fliers. They aren't available on the website either...why wouldn't SO want to sell more to more people? Anyhow, I'd love to start a thread for guys like me to see the monthly flier to know if we need to track down a dealer.

I saw someone posted the flier last month, does anyone have the September 2019 flier they can post? Intend to bump monthly to keep it going if that's allowed.

Snap-On is a finance company that happens to make and sell really nice tools.

It's not in their business model to sell to the average joe. There's no money to be made selling a walk in customer a BOGO on sockets if they're not going to finance them.

Some dealers are willing to cut deals for cash, as they carry the note from SO corporate on the tools they sell on their truck accounts. But the real money for SO is the interest and finance charges on their extended credit, as well as the interest dealers pay for their inventory and franchise.

Another thing you should be aware of is the flyer deals are optional for dealers. They don't have to participate. They can also buy tools on sale and sell them at full list if they are so inclined.

Like said above, if your dealer is not participating in the deal then there is no deal. They have to buy X amount of the deal items to get the deal. I missed a few deals with my old dealer because he knew he wouldnt move the volume that snap on required he buy to get the deal.

I believe the OP is asking if somebody out there has the monthly flier for September; and if so, could they scan and post it. A pretty simple request.

In addition to dealers not being required to participate, fliers are regional and the sales may not apply across the board.

The BOGO deals are usually on sockets, wrenches, and ratchets. There's loads of cheaper socket and wrench options and the ratchets usually don't come in the configurations you want them in. And often it's a buy metric and get the SAE, which is useless if you only need the metric. The rest of the flyer gives you maybe 10% off. You are not missing out on that much. I just look at the flyers to see if there is any new stuff.

That's actually what I'm wanting. I want to replace my incomplete craftsman sockets with Snap-On in 1/4 and 3/8 shallow and deep, MM and SAE. I'm also wanting to buy at least 3 ratchets. I want to be 1st owner and buy from SO or a dealer so there's no issues if I have to call snap on for something. The right BOGO's would be ideal way for me to do that. I work on some older Ford's that still have SAE, plus mowers/golf carts etc that have SAE, so those being thrown in a BOGO isn't a bad thing for me

Thanks for the post! I really think they are some of the best tools you can buy, and literally have cash in hand ready to hand someone. That's why I was stating that SO should post those deals on the website. For the prices they charge they are still making money, even though they are a finance company at heart. I'm somewhere between pro and DIY and that's an under served market. And I'm trying to buy "the right way" and get it from SO direct or a dealer. BOGO's are a more cost effective way for someone like me to buy.

If I found a deal I like, I know several ways to multiple dealers. But I'm trying not to waste their time having them meet me and be ready to buy something. Last thing I want is to coordinate a meeting and not buy something. That's a sure way to not be invited back. If I know ahead of time what the deal is I can at least ask if they carry it and commit to buy if they do. Again, trying to be respectful and realize their time is valuable

I’m sure they will be happy to give you a good price because you’re respectful of their time.

He isn't a very forward thinking dealer then. I got right down to the end of purchasing a route and in the monthly meetings the guys that had the best businesses would buy plenty of extra. Think about it, if the dealer can get the BOGO deal even if he doesn't sell it he has free tools sitting there waiting for him to sell at full price in two months. The better guys rented out storage units to keep extra stock in.

are any of the youtube snap-on dealers able to sell to individuals? I heard they can't sell outside their route but I was wondering if that is restricted to store front shops or they can't sell to ANYONE outside of their route?

Each Snap on guy gets a list of shops he's allowed to sell to. Haasl just happens to be passionate about what he sells and tries to answer any questions about the tools. You can always track down your local Snap on guy and ask.

My Snap on guy doesn't seem to be the type of person that would turn down a sale from from a DIYer that wants to spend the money.

I’m not expecting a good deal aside from the BOGO, that’s the deal I’m looking for. I’ll pay cash, and if they give a little off list that’d be nice of them, but I’m not going to ask for that. I’m trying to be respectful so they’re willing to do business with me to begin with. I’m not on first name basis with any of the dealers I might have access to, so they won’t even agree to meet unless I know what I want and am ready to buy. I’ve been saving some purchases instead of buying online just for that reason. There’s actually some items the website is sold out of that I’m hoping a dealer has.

Alright. If you want to spend the money, go ahead. I've just never really liked in ratchets in the BOGO deals. Snap on ratchets come in all shapes and sizes and if I'm really picky if I'm buying an overpriced ratchet. Snap on's sockets and wrenches are nice, but looking back I would have been able to pay for some of my other tool needs if I bought cheap sockets and wrenches that work fine.

There was a 1/4" BOGO not long ago. They seem to have semi-deeps on BOGO the most, maybe once a year for shallow and deep. I grabbed the deep deal a few months ago. 3/8 every now and then, usually semi-deeps.

My dealer mentioned today there are some socket BOGOs coming up when he gets his order from the recent SFC conference. As previously said though, not all dealers participate in all deals. Mine does all or virtually all of them and he loves cash paid in full--always a deal.

November one just came out. I've been buying up Snap On stuff for the house over the past few years and the Buy One Get One seems to be where the better deals are. Lots of sockets and ratchet deals. $500.00 of sockets gets you $358.75 in ratchets and breaker bars. Got myself the metric deep 12 points today.

Holy ****, are they marking those up? I dont remember ever seeing a 500 dollar 13 piece set, but my snap on knowledge is limited. Today the Snap On guy at work almost got me for a 6 piece swivel set for 280...but I passed, the promo sweatshirt didnt quite do it for me...

1/2" drive chrome has always been really stupid money. They do bump their prices around 5% twice a year too which doesn't help.

They're stupid money but at least they're something tangible that serves a useful purpose over and over. Compare that to property tax.

Thanks for sharing the flyers, it's interesting to compare to the ones we get in the UK.

We get about 2 fliers each month, they are posted on snapon.co.uk for anyone to see, typically before they land with my snap on guy (although he always knows what's coming up because he has ordered stock from it).

We also have bogos for stuff like sockets, but mostly the flyers sell on reduced prices or free gifts like mugs, beer glasses, hats.

One of the best posts of all on this forum. Astonishing to me the amount of debt that most mechanics carry (and do so very stupidly at absurd rates). Need to shop wisely if you are wrenching for a living.

Yeah it’s hard though when you’re in a situation where you need a specialty tool and they stop by with the truck. Even with the high prices, you’re rushed to finish jobs.

In a perfect world you would be able to buy tools online but there’s always that one tool that you need NOW and I think the tool trucks take advantage of that.

They totally take advantage of that. The way around it is you need to build out a good tool assortment prior to beginning a career wrenching for money. The “convenience premium” of the tool trucks kills the profit for the hard working folks that need it now and don’t realize they are signing on with the devil.

If the margins are that tight than something in the bigger picture is wrong

How many idiots get jazzed by the supposed “brand name” sweater? I bet a fair amount do, especially when it is cold out. Cost to them for the sweater? $10.00 USD I’m sure. Good marketing scheme but they are preying on the uneducated. I say this as someone who does own some Snap On but I bought it depreciated and second hand.

I was given a coat from my SO dealer a few days ago. It’s a very high quality coat. I probably won’t wear it in public much because I don’t like being a walking billboard but it’s still a very nice coat even at full retail.

Now, I'd have to give Snap-on the edge in ratchets. Even the premium Proto aviation ratchets aren't as good as the dual 80 Snap-on. I've almost quit using my Proto ones, and use the Snap-on all the time.

Ratchets are Snap-On's best product line, followed probably by the FD+ wrenches. The further away you stray from those two lines, the less worthy of the premium cost the tools are.

"Snap-On is a finance company that happens to make and sell really nice tools." Truth.

They are a really good tool company that provides financing and convenience to those that want or need instant gratification and are willing to pay for it.
