Snap-On Quality Control On Diagonal Pliers...The Hell?

Snap On needs to step up their game. They no longer have that competitive edge. Us younger generation are very well informed when it comes to things we take seriously, our tools(investments). My Snap On guy can't wait to get me off his truck, very impatient. I hear all of you guys talking about paying for the service, what service. I truly believe Trucks are a thing of the past, just like the newspaper; why would I pay for a paper when I can read it for free online. These cutters are just one of Snap Ons Gimmicks trying to change something good into some bullcrap science experiment and, of course, charging premium prices.

Why AREN'T trucks going anywhere?....Maybe because the internet has never come out in the middle of the night to save anyone's *** when they needed tooling for a hot job? Snapon, Mac and Cornwell have all come out with stuff we needed NOW. Even the independent SK guy we used to have would go out of his way to keep us running.

I notice it is usually the "younger generation" that is so well informed on tool purchases that comes to us dumb old guys with their tails between their legs wanting to borrow tools when their "better" stuff fails to get the job done.

Somewhere out in the garage I've got a really nice set of metric Gearwrenches that I got from one of the oh so wise younger generation in exchange for a 15" Crescent after he discovered that virtually NOTHING in a large crushing plant is metric. Too bad he assumed that crushers were like cars, and all he bought was metric tools.

Those trucks will still be slinging chrome as long as there are shops maintaining anything mechanical.

Just checked my 2006 87cf pliers, made in USA. They have a small gap all the way through other than at the very tip. They have always worked great. I just cut some 22 ga wire sitting in my tool box just to be sure. Cut it cleanly in one quick motion.

Knipex 8" dikes have the same gap. I just looked.

Unless you have a special version I have 3 pairs of knipex 8' diagonals and non of them are like this. I have the standard version, insulated, and angled head. Non of them have this. I'm not saying you are a liar just I have 3 versions and non have a gap.

74 21 200. Definitely there, same as Snap-on. Hold it up to the light.

I have the 10" Knipex too, but they are not accessible right now. They **** IMO as they have had to be replaced twice for chipping.

I think the relief has to be there for them to work properly, which makes this whole thread kind of amusing.

I just happened to be using the KNipex the other day and remembered this thread and I looked at them and I was surprised to see that SAME gap.

I've had them for a few years. Maybe they changed. I was surprised to see that gap after this thread. My craftsman professional have no gap, for example, and I thought the gap was a Snap-on feature/innovation. Apparently not.
