i have a baby blue snap on ratchet 3/8th. F836. It was traded with other tools for something i had. The gears are messed up so im going to send it in to snap on.

I cannot stand the baby blue, terrible color:eyecrazy:. If i write a note will snap on change the handle to a different color? or is the baby blue a good color to keep? I might sell the ratchet after because i already have multiple ratchets so changing colors might be easier to sell.

handles banged up a little, gears are trashed

I think you get a new ratchet. A tool guy will rebuilt it, but from what I have heard on here is sending it to SO, they just replace.

Seriously? You can probably sell it in the classifieds. :bounce:

Re: snap on ratchet return

Sell it on ebay; very possibly a very rare color that will bring allot of money! Call snapon and they will probably send you a rebuild kit for free.....

Do NOT underestimate the collect-ability and ebay value of some of the early hard handle ratchets!

The rebuilld kits are still available!

They definitely won't change the handle for you. If you send it in, chances are they'll send you a soft grip ratchet back. If you want a hard handle put on that's a different color, your best bet is to send it to Moose over in London. He's got every color hard handle Snap On ratchet there is. I think he's even got one with a white handle.

You can make a ratchet with any color handle you want.

It depends; do you want to do: use it, keep it for a collectable, make money, get the latest dual 80 etc. If you want $; get a rebuild kit and sell it. If you want to use it; have a dealer rebuild it or call snap-on, have them send you a kit for free. If you want a dual 80; sell it on ebay or trade someone on here for a dual 80. Want a different handle; get the color you want and transplant it... so many options! What DO YOU want to do with it? Inquiring minds want to know... :)
