Guys - I need your help. Any Snap-On Remote Patrol / e-Lock owners out there?

I bought a KRL7002 with remote patrol on it. The remote and the charger had been lost but I was told by the SO dealer that they were available through SO. Called SO, I can still buy the charger but the remote is no longer available (the box was manufactured in 2000, I thought it was kind of a rip off to discountinue the parts so quickly) They supposedely called their supplier and the supplier no longer manufactures it. I was told there are no alternates.

I find that hard to believe...It can't be THAT unique. I'm thinking there is something else on the market that will work as this 'Automotive Type Remote' with universally accepted symbols and rolling code tehnology.'

Fast forward a few months, a local guy has one for sale. He stated in the add that the remote patrol can be setup to work with your local security system and up to three remotes. E-mailed the guy for information (even offering to buy a spare remote or just compensate him for information), no response.

I figure that this feature probably has a owner's manual supplement that described how to program new remotes and such. SO has no record of those instructions.

So...I need your help. I would like to source a remote and program it for my box.

If anyone has this feature, I would really appreicate any information you can provide.
Is there information in the manual on it?

Can you supply a picture of the remote with any manufacturing or functional information you might have?

Does anyone have a remote they want to offer for sale?

Thanks for any and all help!!!

This was still on my toolbox when I bought it and provides some information on the features:

I don't think it's that hard to believe that no one has an electronic lock system for their tool box. That might be why Snap on quit selling them, low demand.:headscrat
I had never heard of them until your post.

Thanks for the reply Fedwrench. Maybe you are right and it is rare. Since I saw another one for sale shortly after I bought mine I thought it might be more common.

May I ask a couple questions about it?
Is it just a remote lock? Or does it have an alarm? Or remote paging if messed with?

As to putting an alarm or remote locking on a tool box, that's a project for a slow afternoon and about 50 bucks tops. But remote paging that would add a lot.
What does this one do?

I know they ordered some with it at work, but I haven't seen them, they're in a different part of the company. Those came from the industrial side.

I do believe this is still available through snap-on industrial, I just looked in their industrial catalog and there is a keyless entry option. Check it out it is on page n032

ToolMan - You are the man!! Thanks for the lead...looks to be just what I needed. I'll call tomorrow.

I guess the industrial arm and the dealer arm of SO doesn't talk??:wtf:

Did you ever find any information about this? I recently purchased one of these boxes and am curious as well. I took the module out of the bottom box as I was curious of how it worked and easier to tinker with.

Just what was in the thread, it is obsolete and not available from Snap-On anymore so be gentle and don't lose your remotes if you care about that feature.

snapon locks are such a joke. I can get into a snapon box with a simple piece of sheet metal fairly quickly.

Better to devise your own mechanical push button lock system. No worried of electrical failure of the device or the remote control..which happens to often.

I've got a pile of random actuators at work (lock actuators, blend door, mode door, etc) and some motors too (seat track, window, etc)...can't help but think every time I see them that they could be used to (relatively) easily rig up an electronic locking system.

Since we use prox cards for everything (RO system/computer login/vehicle gate/timeclock), it would be very nice to have an RFID reader as well.

Hmm.

If you are really worried about tool box theft look at the Dewalt Mobil-lock system. They have temp, vibration, movement sensors and tamper sensor. They are GPS enabled and when you log on to your computer you can track where the alarm is. They will notify by voice, text msg, email etc. You can set up the alarm to come on or off on schedule arm or disarm change settings etc. from anywhere you can log on. The alarms box is about $400 and the service runs about $20 a month. Great for Bobcats, welders, toolboxes, any thing that will grow legs and walk off. Google Dewalt mobilock and you will come up with info. When I would track mine it would show the location about 30 feet from where the trailer really was. That's real good, showed a picture from space of the location.
