we shoot for 5 weeks, does it happen? not often.
if you want to impress your dealer then make it a point to keep your account at a level that you can pay off in 5 weeks.

The only time I run a balance is when the dealer drops something off that I ordered and I am not at the shop. I pay the dealer the next time I see him.

Be very careful with a running account. I have seen people get in way over their head.

When I started out I ran up a high balance on the truck account and slowly paid it down at $50 a week. Now I only get something off the truck if I can pay for it on the spot. I like the whole living life without any debt thing better.

At this point in my life I would never recommend borrowing money, yet I don't really see a way around this starting off as a mechanic. You must have tools, period. Do whatever you have to, to get the tools you need to get you by (aka craftsman) then as you start making money, slowly upgrade and take those craftsman tools to the house :)

I pay for everything up front on the day that I buy it. Usually pay in green backs as well.

Sometimes I get a break for purchasing this way.

Been in debt over things that I didn't need, don't want to be there again. Major drag.

nowadays i try to pay on the spot. in school i had about a $200 tab on the Matco and Cornwell trucks. $200 was my personal limit so if disaster were to ever strike I could pay it all off at once. :)

I try to keep the RA balance under 500 and I pay 50 - 100 /wk on it (allways the higher if I carry anthing off the truck). Ive been dealing with the same SO man for so long he doesn't even say a word about it - I just get anything I need.
