Does snap on run sales or factory promos? I'm asking because I am looking to buy a kra2422, but my dealer wants every cent of retail for the one on his truck, and more than retail if he has to pick one up for me. A friend referred me to his dealer, but my question is, does snap on ever run factory sales? Guaranteed trade in values? How much would you expect your dealer to work with you?

There's a sale flyer every month.

Usually it's nothing fantastic. Last month I think impact wrenches were $50 off. Unless it's a sale item, my dealer pretty much sells at straight list price. I'm a pretty low volume customer, maybe he deals with other guys who spend more, I don't know.

The sale flyer looks more official than I would expect one dealer to make. I think it's a factory sale flyer.

My dealer has bargains on tool boxes all the time.I'm no longer a high volume customer as I have mostly everything I need now.He takes care of most of his customers the same way.

I got my kra 2422 for $2650 new off the truck. He had gotten the box in a combo with a scanner. I dont know what his cost was, but I am not foolish enough to believe he sold it to me at a loss. He even put it on my truck account, so I made payments free of interest. Granted those payments were 5taller to 10 times what they would have been on snapon credit. I have not paid list price on anything off his truck, but he gets most of my business. He is smart enough to know he will make more money in the end by selling at a lower mark up.

More than retail? Find another dealer, yours *****.

If you were responding to me, I may have misspoke. I think I said "list", but "retail" may have been the word to use. I don't know. What I do know is this: When I compare me receipts from him with the price at snapon.com, they are the same, or within pocket change of difference.

He is the only tool truck around here. There's a mac guy somewhere, but no one's seen him for months.

No sir, I was referring to the OP's dealer charging MORE than retail to order a box. Tell him to push it in his *** and leave it there.

My snap on guy only ever has promotional price boxes. He buys "X" number boxes at what ever price and passes on the discount. Couple months ago he had 3 classic 78's ,1-extreme green 1-orange 1-yellow, with the armor edge top, blacked out corner trim, and black drawer trim for $3k ea. they retail for $4795+$586 for the top.

I'm currently getting a masters series krl7022 in extreme green from him. Retail is $7K+. I got it for $4K.

Every week he has a single page flyer, usually $50 off this or that or trade in other brand blank and get "X" % off snap-on blank. and once a month he has a 6 page discount book.

Depends on what your dealer wants to participate in.

How do they get a KRL1023 off the shipping truck and into your home garage without a forklift?

He will be posting here in a few months with broken welds and no warranty support though then he will see the error in that decision.

No offense to anyone, i own both a mac box and my new Snap on krl1022, the snap on boxes are far superior in quality. I'd rather pay $8k for a snap on box then spend $6500 and get two. You'll need the second box once you realize how poorly made the other one is.

So its not unreasonable for me to go on the truck, tell him I want the kra2422 which lists for 5300 for say, 3200, in green, with my matco tool cart as a trade in, and putting 500 down?

Yes I know that, but can the lift hold a box 6 ft. wide?

I would think so. My dealers list is as wide as his truck, and it may extend outwards too. It will be a process trying to parallel park the box on the lift, but that's his job, he's the one getting paid for it.

I know the dealers trucks have extra large lifts, but when you order a box, it comes shipped to you on a pallet in a freight truck and the lifts those trucks have aren't very big. They could probably handle a KRL1022, but that's it.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't thinking you were ordering custom/online. I assumed the dealer was dropping it off in his truck. Yeah, not sure. Get it on the lift, then have people stabilize it till its on the ground?

It has to go sideways in order to use the pallet jack and I'm not even sure the box will fit through the opening of the truck sideways. I wonder how they get in on the truck. They must put it on the truck lengthwise with a forklift. They must have some long forks. :dunno:

Not unreasonable at all, but you may have to wait til he cam buy it on promo or at a show. I dont know that they can cut you that break on special order boxes. And some dealers maybe unwilling to sell a reduced mark up,especially if you are not one of his better customers, its his business. If he refuses thathat doesnt make him a bad guy.

I would think that it's the shipping company's problem to get the load off the truck safely. That's what they carry insurance for. I receive pallets of stuff for my work all the time and some of the pallets are as big as or bigger than a KRL1023. Before we had a forklift at work, the shipping companies would usually send a truck with a lift gate if the load was too big to handle by hand. Since we got the forklift, most of the trucks that come here don't seem to have have lift gates as they know ahead of time that they don't need one. If the driver is delivering a huge toolbox to a residence, I would think they'd have the common sense to load it onto a liftgate truck. If they don't I'd refuse the shipment and tell them to load it onto a different truck.
As for fitting the box through the opening, I brought my KRL722 home in the back of a pickup truck that had a liftgate. I pulled it out on the liftgate length-wise and then turned it width-wise once i had clearance. it was tight but it worked. My 68" Epiq came in my snap on dealer's horse trailer (lift gate on the truck was busted) and we managed to get it out and down to the ground safely. so, I guess what I'm saying is, if it went into the truck, it'll come out. The trick is to do it safely.

Yeah, I'm his only cinsistent customer at our shop, and I've got time to let him find a deal.

The lifts on the SO trucks are rated for 1600lbs. It can handle it.
