Snap on screwdriver - dealer busted?

I agree with you. See my post that went unanswered that did exactly this.
How can we address the inception of failed threads that are poorly titled and incoherent?
A lot of the advice on here references the search function. It would be good for all of us to make it easier on ourselves to find the answer if it was discussed in the past.
So who wants to talk about screwdrivers…
Let’s say the dealer put the blade in a little different and split the grip… how did he do the other abrasive damage to the grip?
It is like he damaged it twice…
I once had one where the blade of the screwdriver did not go in as much as a factory one. I used my vise to push it in the rest of the way. It did not split the grip or abrade the handle. The Snap-on guys have a tool to remove and replace the blades.
It looks like an everything went wrong situation.

Yep, I’m still alive. Been way too long. As the story usually goes, been through hell and back. Good to see you and others still wrenching.
As for the damage, it’s unfortunate, but my luck when you go through another person to get the job done. Can’t be there to question the job when the tool man is long gone.
Not the best shot but lemme know if it’s legible. Haven’t started looking for a replacement, but if you have access to one, I’ll gladly pay you for it.

Would be good to understand how the dealer goes about this job, if anything, just to learn how he does it.
My first thought was maybe the replacement shaft was a little larger in diameter, but he forced in in any way.

That is an SGDP42IRA. First revision of the Grip series handle in red.
Will look through tomorrow and let you know what turns up.

By the way, Cgarage the search function on this forum is a total joke. I have found the best way to search for your topic is to read through every single thread until you find what you are looking for.
I was thinking if part of the bolster is supposed to go a little into the grip… and it was a few degrees off… the thicker part of the bolster just split it.

The thread title seems to only have bothered you, and you’re the one digging your heels in over an apparent non issue.
This isn’t authoring scientific papers for peer review. This isn’t literature. It’s a causal discussion forum. It doesn’t need to be anything specific to start a discussion. We’re not looking to make an indexable encyclopedia here.
Picking fights with management over semantics is a great way to get a thread locked or a trip to banned camp in my experience.

Actually, if you had read the posts above, Ryan and I are on the same page. I didn’t pick a fight. I made a request that posts be written in a coherent manner.
I am not sure what your point is?
It would be good for us to avoid this evolutionary reality. I plan on not contributing to it.

I've just been through my older instinct drivers. All of mine that are Phillips are #1 and orange.

It’s a crapshoot if they split the handle when the dealer presses in a new blade and doesn’t line up the “wings” of the new shank where the old ones were in the handle if that makes sense.
I always prefer to pull the broken shank myself and get it exchanged then install myself to ensure proper tip alignment (on flat tip) as well as avoid damage to my old preferred non Instink hard handles.
