Snap-On seal remover pick set?

Wanted to get an opinion from anybody with these if they use all 4 in the set or if there's a more specific one that you end up using and the others just sit
The set is SGSR104AR and runs about 45 bux for the set or 11 individually

A buddy of mine convinced me and I think there great. There like pick tools but you don't have the concern of piercing through rubber. You will find many other uses I'm sure. I did. I definitely use the bent ones more but they all come in handy for me.

Bought the short, straight one. Use it for all kinds of things besides O-rings. Definitely want the rest of the set. Very handy.

Wow quick responses! Sounds like you guys like em. I myself was thinking the short ones would probably be used more. Who knows I'll probably get the whole set but I just wanted to see if I got any responses like "I only use the short blade curved one"

I bought the set after my using my mechanics set. We work on pressure washers and they are quite handy for doing seals with damage. Wish I would have know about the Mayhew before buying the Snappy's though (kick self smiley)


Note, I go to a lot of auctions and have only seen 2 sets in 5 years.

I'll be the dissenting opinion. Bought the set several years ago thinking I'd use them constantly because I do a lot of o ring and lip seal work. I found it hard to dig out tight fitting o rings with them not to mention the rubber soft grips become slick as goose **** when soaked in oil, ATF, hydraulic fluid ect.

Also the blades are rounded to prevend damage to the seal but are thick enough to damage the o ring groove on the part while digging out some seals.

I don't ever have any trouble with damaging seals and o rings with my pick assortment. They'll dig out any o ring or lip seal, even hardened ones.

I traded my set back on the Snap-On truck. Haven't even once thought, man I wish I still had those seal tools.

I would rather use my old five piece pointy snap-on set also. They have served me fine for years on installing or removing seals/0-rings on a variety of things.... Well enough I have not looked for different ideas

I just picked up a set of Mayhew picks. It looks like it will be easier to remove seals without damage.

They are a great tool to use, I'm always using mine to remove heater hoses without damaging them when doing thermostat & head gasket jobs, they make the job a lot easier. I brought mine before they changed to the instinct handles.

Ive thought about buying that set, but ive just made a few of my own out of cheap screw drivers, Ive made them to look pretty similar. My picks have all worked well for me for the most part, so I never did buy the seal tools.

Great question. Here is their warranty/info page. It gives a brief history of their US manufacturing bona fides and states their manufacturing facility is located in Massachusetts. I didn't see anything stating that all tools are 100% US made though. Their warranty looks like the standard lifetime for workmanship/abuse not covered type.

I use only the short, straight one. I polished the working end on a soft wheel. The edges were too sharp for my taste.
