Snap-On Toolbox Manufacture Serial Decoder

I am not sure if this information has already been posted here but today, I made a video going over how to decode your Snap-on toolbox serial number to find the manufacture date.

Thanks for a useful list but generally if the back is stamped with the model # the year is usually there too.

In engineering lists I O and Q are typically skipped.

You are partially correct. Snap-on no longer stamps the boxes. They stopped that several decades ago. I believe back in the 1990s. All modern Snap-on boxes for at least the past 25 years are going to have a bar code on a sticker. There is a duplicate sticker on the inside of the box. When they stopped stamping the model and serial numbers into the metal they also stopped putting the date. Decoding the model number is the only way to tell the manufacturer date on any 2000s box.

So that’s why there is “Do Not Remove” on the sticker.
