When you see Franz, tell him we all said "hi."

[HIGHJACK]
What happened to Franz? Why was he banned?

I just searched under his username to find his last posts. The last 2 could possibly have been interpreted as negative to women, but they certainly weren't "overboard". Do you think that was it?!

You Guys Doesnt Know Nothing About Production And Quality, Doesnt Matter Where The Tools Are Made, This Is ******* Preconceit, The Standards And Material Its Made Is What Makes A Good "tool". Snap On Doesnt Make Any Tools Anyway They Are Just Distribuitors Not Manufacturers, Most Of Their Tools Are Made By Companies Like Danaher,.. . You Only Pay For A Good Warranty And Customer Services.

Speaking of good tools...........LMAO.

Man alive . . . where did this guy come from?

What's up with the caps on the first letter of each word?

When you write "doesn't," it needs to have an apostrophe between the "n" and the "t" .

By the way, Snap-on does produce their own tools; not Danaher. I believe you're thinking of MATCO.

No, I think "Preconceit" would be passing judgement on something you have never used and have no experience with.

I have lots of experience with tools from Taiwan and China. I have bought them, used them, taken care of them and in my opinion, the majority of them are of inferior quality.

Nope, no "Preconceit" here. It's all based on experience.

Chinese steel will never be as good as American. Why? Because nobody will tell them how to make the better steel. Every country in the world that produces quality steel simply refuses to tell the chinese how to do it. The chinese take advantage of every leg up anyone's ever given them, and they are now taking over the world economy. Don't let china own you and your country. Buy USA made.

I'm not sure you know much about manufacturing, forging, heat treating processes. There is a big difference, and while some us more than others pay high prices for tools I think the difference is evident. Alot of companies spend more time replicating other higher class designs for cheaper production than investing in the engineering and testing to compete and create a quality tool. With a background in Engineering I think your position comes as more of a business argument than one of knowledge. You might want to re-evaluate your generalizations before you post them with vulgarity.

And about spending your children's money on tools, most of these tools are passed down because they do last. They don't end up in the landfill like disposable's and they hold there value quite well through the ages....

I have an old Allied set with your name on it if you're interested....

Really. I tend to hold back a bit, but some of the essence still gets through. I haven't been warned about anything I have posted, but maybe it will happen.

I'm sure you know that facts are facts, regardless of how politically incorrect they may be considered these days. Pretending it never happened doesn't mean that it never happened.

I don't see anything wrong with calling a pig a "pig".

And you know this how????????? :eek7: Sounds like a bunch of emotional BS to me. China is absolutely capable of producing quality steel.

When nanotech comes around, it'll be dependent on the mind that makes the steel, not the mills, not the region, nor the country.

I bash China every chance I can get...

Really? Hadn't noticed...:)

Yeah, the quality of the material or end product isn't the issue; anybody who suggests otherwise is deluding themselves... It's primarily (and overwhelmingly) a political issue.

And I'm certain that that is why the people who have been warned/banned were censured; the mods (rightly) want the discussions to be about tools, not politics!

Agreed. They dont have any problems putting a man in space or making atomic weapons so I would think making a decent ratchet is not too difficult.

I see it as this.I don't care if a tool is made here in the usa, china, africa, europe, australia.I only care if the tool is good.Look at me craftsman is made here right?I absolutely hate their tools especially the cheap rachets.
It can come from anywhere as long as it is good and works so be it.
Also in my thread about blue point people are talking about it not being usa made, well neither is some snap on stuff but will you quit buying it?

I have a whole KRL1003 box full of snap on tools. The only 2 tools made in asia in the box are my CDR4830 drill (assembled in USA of asian and global components) and these ratcheting wrench adaptors which started this thread.

Then there are the T/L hex wrench sets and striking scrapers which are made in Spain.

The rest is all USA made.

I dont mind something here and there being outsourced, but trust me, if snap on started making their hardline hand tools outside of the USA, Im wont be buying them.

If the Chinese Army came over here and did terrible things to your family before killing them, would you still buy tools from China?

Don't count on it being made in the U.S. even if its on the box!! Look at Harley Davidson, 70% of all Harley parts are made in Asia. The parts are shipped to the U.S. and Harley builds the bikes here. Just like the Jap bikes. Parts made over seas, and the bikes are put together here in the states.

Folks: Japan != China != Asia.

Most of the non-US parts you'll find on a Harley are from Japan. There may be a few Taiwanese parts, but they'll be minor - cast items like footpegs and such.

Japan produces some very top-notch stuff, especially when it comes to motorsports - WAY beyond US (read: HD) technology and quality. More importantly, the Japanese government treat it's people well - it's not a repressed society.

China is a whole different ballgame. Their quality standards are ****, and they're way behind the times insofar as production and process - remember, their gates were closed shut for a very long time, and they still have a lot of catching up to do.
More importantly, China is a VERY repressive government that treats their people like ****. If what's going on in Tibet isn't enough, check out how they treat their factory workers sometime.

Do you REALLY want to fight terrorism? Do some research. DON'T shop at Wal-Mart, DON'T buy Nikes, DON'T buy diamonds. DON'T buy anything made in China, Malaysia, or any other nation that allows its companies to conduct business in a sweatshop manner.

The reason they don't mark bluepoint is because if they did over 80% of there mechandise would be marked BluePoint.
