This is why brand-loyalty doesn't pay. They know they can get you because of it. Hell, look at the Wiha and Cornwell nonsense going on in other threads.

I'm referring to cases where you think you're buying a good pro-level offering because of the rep of the other stuff, then find out they slipped in something that JC Witney sells, but for 4x the price.

You Guys Doesnt Know Nothing About Production And Quality, Doesnt Matter Where The Tools Are Made, This Is ******* Preconceit, The Standards And Material Its Made Is What Makes A Good "tool". Snap On Doesnt Make Any Tools Anyway They Are Just Distribuitors Not Manufacturers, Most Of Their Tools Are Made By Companies Like Danaher,.. . You Only Pay For A Good Warranty And Customer Services.

good warranty ..................:lol_hitti not with our dealers here

Just realized this was over a year old, way before I joined, glad to see some members were the same old C's back then!:lol_hitti

Anyway no one wants a Harbor Freight tool at Snap-on prices, the ones I bought from HF made in Taiwan are good tools, but I wouldn't pay truck tool prices for the same thing.....I think that was the point and problem.

I agree; I try to hash out all of those 'filler' products that every tool brand seems to offer and just purchase their 'genuine' products.

Those "completely made in the USA" Wright tools are looking better every day. I'm planning on getting a couple tools just to see how they look.

I was looking at this eBay auction for the set mentioned in the original post today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SnapOnRWA404 and began wondering if they were made here in the USA. This thread is the first thing that popped up in Google.

I then noticed they're the same as the Williams branded ones: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/WS-4RWA, with a very similar model number (that includes letters - which I've read here that the Williams model numbers with letters were made in the USA).

I'm sure the Snap On (Taiwanese) version will go for a lot more, even though they're exactly the same, except with a laser-etched "S" instead of a "W".

I ended up just ordering a set of PROTO ones, that look better designed anyway - you don't need to twist the top to secure it, as it has a lip and will be secure with any socket or attachment attached. Also, the way the 1/4-inch bit holder is designed on the Snap On/Williams always pinches my skin on my fingers, and I hate it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/JHAM4S. Half the price of the Taiwanese stuff, and HOPEFULLY they'll be made here, most of PROTO stuff still seems to be.

That ebay auction ends in ten hours, and it'll be interesting to see how much people are willing to pay for the name, for an inferior tool.

The chrome looks a lot better (in these pics) on the PROTO than the Williams, and the laser etching on the Williams seems pretty sloppy as well.

Unfortunately for you, that's not the case. That's a very generic design that comes from Taiwan, and has been in the market for several years now. It's one of the most common adapter designs and has been offered by many other brands.

Ah well . . . at least it only costs $22.84, and I still like the design better. I guess there aren't any American options for these things, so I did the best I could. I almost went for the S.O. but thanks to this thread I saved some money.

Stick these adapters into a ratcheting wrench, then you have a lower profile ratchet.

They have a locking mechanism as well. Redundant tool in my opinion and I own a thru set. Price isn't too bad on that proto, though same price as a whole taiwanese set of thrus at retail but those don't lock if that's important to you.
