Has anyone wanted a $2000 Snap On tool box but instead just stuck a emblem on a Us General tool box to get the same thing??!! Show me yours!

Disclaimer: Casters are not the same quality, but hey those are not to hard to replace! The picture is not my tool box, and the emblem needs to be positioned better.

If you put a Ferrari badge on your Fiero, it still isn't a Ferrari. Whatever makes you happy is cool though.

That's totally different Kerry. Even a mentally challenge person can tell the difference between that. I just know that a lot of Snap On guys really hate seeing this stuff and they will hate on people.

I have a Craftsman badge on my Kobalt box because the previous owner decided to pry it off and the two empty holes left just pissed me off.
Is that wrong??????????/
C'man badge was all I had. :)
Some 3M badge tape and ...done.

As for cars, it's the BMW ///M boys that are far more notorius for the faux emblems than anything Merc I have seen.

Usta be the Honda Mugen boys.

Audi faux "S" badges are starting to pick up though.
:)

Ban Him......Never insult a Kobalt box like that again...

I love the box.
It's stainless and now sits in my basement as co-workers decided to take a prybar to it and try and break into it years ago.

All fixed now with custom alum. plates and allen screws all holding it back in form.

Best $125 I ever spent on a $600 box.

Well...til the violation.
I just tried to give it a new identity to help it cope. Just like WITSEC.

So what you're saying is that you're trolling.

You went out of your way to post something, just to make people angry? o...k...

I had a ************* Yugo and I put a Bentley hood ornament on it. It was still a ************* but I think everybody must have thought I was loaded because I was driving around what they thought was a Bentley, but it wasn't, it was a Yugo.

While the HF boxes are good quality for the price, they are in NO way 'the same thing'.

Hell my HF 4 drawer has Snappy emblems on it, but I'm the first to tell anyone it's a mutt of HF, Sunex, and Blue Point parts.

Nice job trolling though.

You know the saying... "You can put a prostitute in an evening gown but it still doesn't change the fact....."

If I saw a guy with a harborfreight box and US general emblem, I would respect him.

If I saw a guy with a harborfreight box that has a snap on emblem on it, I would laugh and never respect or trust anything he has to say.

Good security. The thief's will walk right by. :lol_hitti

Kinda along the same lines. Back in college a friend of mine rode a really expensive as in multiple $K's bicycle around campus. He spray painted it about 10 different colors with cheap spray paint. Covered all the labels so you couldn't read the brands. Looked like complete ****, nothing was shiney on it. He even painted the wheels like this rust brown color and put electrical tape on the seat. Made it 5 years and it never got stolen. :lol_hitti Sometimes he would even leave it unlocked next to another bike, it would still be there when leaving the library at ~3am. On the weekends he used it in triathlons.

Just goes to show thieves do judge on appearance.

I got a friend with a HF 44 box, he had it repainted in the Hazet blue or whatever the color is and stuck Hazet badges on it. Even got the "assistant" badging on it. I'll see if he'll snap a pic so I can post of.

But there's no way you can fake the Hazet (or any Euro) look. They're fundamentally different than what's on offer in the US. So I ask, why'd he do it? I'd assume he's a Hazet die-hard, but if that's so then why doesn't he have a Hazet box (money, I assume?).

I wish I had a Hazet box. I just sold my ratty old Assistent and I kinda miss it.

Who cares that it doesn't say snap on. The people who won't know the difference won't care and the people that do know the difference will no it's just a stupid badge on ****. ( not that the box is **** persay)

Reminds me of back in the day when I sold auto parts. Garage phoned up and asked for exhaust for a Benz 560 SEL. The exhaust I sent was wrong, garage guy says this is "one of those rare 560s with a 6 cylinder motor!" Of course it was just a 300SEL with a 560SEL badge. The BMW 528e guys liked to stick 535i badges on their cars, with similar results.

Couple of them took the bus for an extra day, since the ordered parts didn't fit...

lighten up guys..... It's not the same as putting a bently logo on a Yugo... it is however more like putting the AMG logo on the standard Mercedes or a HEMI badge on a 4.7.
I put Proto (My Favorite Tool Brand with Whom I've spent a ton over the years)badges on my No Name (Steeltek) Stainless box (coincidentially since the Proto boxes were getting thrown out because they fell apart and I grabbed the badges my cheap stainless is still kicking) https://sphotos-a-ord.**.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1069222_10201350555663431_305157851_n.jpg

I think it's great someone can save money and still have the illusion that they mortgaged their house for a tool box lol Telling people it's an actual snap on however is a different story.... THAT makes you a Liar. Decorating your box just makes it yours.

I just re-read and realized what you said here....it's NOT the same thing. Guess thats why the guys were hard on you... Even if they were the same construction, the snap on Name has value that adds more resale than the US General ever will. Personally, I woudl buy the cheap box every time because the box doesn't make you the money the tools do, but that's me. I'm a Toolbox rebadger myself, but I'm not going to kid myself that my box if Pro Quality (it has held up in a shop for 4 years and at home for the last 6 though)

Decoration is just that decoration but a HF box will never be a snap on.

HF makes good boxes and I do like your Rebadge.

Funny. The German thing to do would be to delete the badges entirely, especially if you have the higher model.

LOL.

Oh the differences between the EU and the US of A.

:)

Buy what you want. Badge it as you like.

Just do NOT try and sell it off as something that it is not.

I put US General emblems on Snap-On boxes.

That's a good idea, probably prevents theft. :lol_hitti Seriously

Good security. The thief's will walk right by. :lol_hitti

I have seen this firsthand in several shops. And it does work; guys would never ask to borrow tools out of the 'US General' badged box.

If you were going to put any badge on the HF, why not Matco? It's their design.

Funny. The German thing to do would be to delete the badges entirely, especially if you have the higher model.

I've seen this on several tool boxes also.

I know right. If its yours, just put whatever you want on whatever you want. Its silly to get angry over such things. Not as juvenile as trolling a message board but silly .

Of course these were Canadians. We're a charming mixture of sometimes being like Americans and sometimes being more like Europeans and sometime like nothing else. When it comes to trying to impress our neighbours, many are often like the example above.

Some Americans might think we spell neighbours kind of funny. :canada:

You're a fool to believe that. I know many successful diesel mechanics who play with different badges on their boxes just for the hell of it. I've got a few different badges sitting on my shelf waiting to go on. Why? Because I think the US General badges are ugly! But, I guess that makes me an untrustworthy liar who is an incompetent mechanic :dunno:

I had a 92' Mazda b2200 I think it was. I had a triton v8 tag on the front grill as a joke. If its meant as a joke I am fine with but if its done to rip people off thats different.
