I was just lubing up the ratchet and then went to put the snap ring back on, heard a ping and the snap ring is forever lost.

What size snap ring do I need? Thanks!!

They're not really a standard snap-ring, I likely have a good used one laying around if you want it.

Of all my ratchets I have taken apart the SK Snap rings seem the hardest to take off get back on.
I give up on my SK 1/4 drive just oiled it from bottom.

Luckily, I found it! Didn't expect that.

And yeah, these things are a massive pain...from now on I'll probably just do an ATF soak every now and then.

I usually try to put the ratchet in a vise so you dont have to try and hold it and put it back together at the same time.

I thought the Craftsman RHFT style were trickier due to the spinner wheel, especially the 1/4 drive..

What kind of pliers do you use? I might pick up some 90deg needle nose ones. I got it once before with regular needle noses.

They are a pain to do as you usually have to fiddle with the drive end while on it with the pliers to get it to drop together I find. Hold in a vise, use a plastic bag over the head as a catcher if it goes ping.

I've had them snap, just had a craftsman Rhft San ring break I had to cut up an So one and bend it to fit its bigger.
They are a pain to remove especially with age and crud it took me an hour to get an Sk Wayne apart.

The BEST pliers to use are the 90° snap right pliers for me but angled needle nose are okay but try the snap ring pliers my snap on one's have a bend to the tips that hold them great they've worked for all the straight ones work also.
