Does anyone have any pictures they can post? I have an older 5/24 MTD...all these years later, it still starts on the very first pull! Great machine, still in great shape, and I treat it to new belts, friction wheel, etc. regularly. But mushy snow does clog the chute, so this thread intrigues me!

Pics would be great, if you can post some. I think I "get it", but some up-close pics would sure help...

I think the FWD speeds are ok. I've tried adjusting it in the past, I can try again. But that wont help it through heavy snow.

I have the 624 as well. Did a predator repower 224cc with a little larger pulleys in each and impeller upgrade. Works great. Mine had motor seized, then wouldn't go forward or backward with new motor, then reverse and forward wouldn't work. I replaced the motor then took apart transmission following service manual cleaned up and re greassed. In service manual it says if forward no reverse it's usually a tension cable issue I believe or issue in control panel. I took mine off stand and sprayed with wd40 and made sure no missing springs. Then it worked still some slop. The plastic bushings on shifter were gone and had too much slop. Did a metal lathe job brass sleeve so no slip on the shifter. Only thing now is there's a little more play then I like in the shifter rod which is just a simple swap of end cap ball socket holder things. Another trick with the transmission adjustment is to adjust height of shifter cable and slide transmission up or down as needed before fully fastening down. Overall it's a great machine and I love it because I use it to clean up plow debris on edge of road and newer machines hate all the rocks and junk with shear pins but this one doesn't care. I just bought a gravely I pickup tomorrow so I'm excited to put that one through some tests too. Hope you have luck with the machine. Joined the forum to comment my experience on the 624 for you because I wish I would've found the answer quick and easy for each of my problems when encountering them. Good luck.

Yes. Night and day difference.
Look around, but that price is in line.
