SO Alignment Ratchet, any good 4 general use?

What is everyones take on the SO alignment ratchet? I would be using it for general wrenching/confined spaces. A friend said that someone he knew had one and the flex joints were somewhat floppy, that may be a turn-off.

I have that one, mine isn't sloppy.
May get that way with heavy use.

you could probably use that ratchet to remove a water pump without taking the fan and belt off

Sounds like you all like them. If the joints are floppy will SO replace it? Never dealt with SO don't have any. Don't want to pay the $100 on ebay but whats it worth?

With the 1/2 socket adapter it makes a handy alignment ratchet. I have three and the other tech still use it today for odd ball tight spots.

Nope they stop selling them in the 80's what I have been reading when the shims and A-Arm went to the way side. In it hay day a whole set went $300. +. Mac even made a copy version of it.

I have the mac version, it's made me a ton of money fitting into strange places.

Limited range of sockets and adapters, coarse tooth action, are just a couple of its drawbacks. There are better options out there such as fine tooth pass through sockets. It's great for older vehicles with short long arm suspension but, I would never consider it for anything else but, that's just me.

It looks like a good tool at $100, if you have a need for it I'd say buy it!
