im surprised you didnt bring up the heated shower head...You need to get into South America or down island in the Caribbean to really see some dangerous and crazy stuff. Ground rods do not exist, circuit protection is optional, GFCI or anything resembling safety devices are very rare…and home done wiring with whatever is available is the norm in most places.

Somewhere I have a picture of an outlet I found during my home inspection that was setup like that. Real exciting thing was it had 240v on it, so it was either wired REALLY wrong or was some sort of messed up MWBC.They used the wrong receptacle plate. They should have used the plate with the hole for a cord retainer.


I just watched them wire a box like this buried in the sand, nothing but tape on the connections. Every knock out will let water and sand in. Buried about 6 inches. Bent the conduit with a torch.
