Would make a good excuse before local Judge " Your honor, I have an obsession with SO tools and this low life $hit from work took one of my tools; lost it and refused to repay....so I took it out on his face...."

Should you get a license plate number and know a cop have him/her run the number. If there is a name on the invoice . Try the phone book.
IMO the best thing is " write it off" because it is upsetting and the more you think about it no good will come of it.

i already had 2 craftsman 1/4dr ratchets, 2 mac tool round head ratchet (long handle and flex head ratchets) and 6 snap on ratchets (one standard, one long handle, 3 flex ratchets (i got used one from Rickster, other one is new that i bought from my snap on guy when it is in clearance, and other one that come with set that i bought from one guy that sold me 35 dollars (retail for 189 dollars) and transmission ratchet (it act like speeder ratchet that flex head and handle act like speed bar).... i did use all my ratchet often....
i am planning to buy new design ratchet (72 or 80 teeth 1/4dr) while my snap on guy did order and waiting.....

Why, if you're working quick lube, do you need a fully stocked toolbox of SnapOn tools?
And why do you need an impact wrench?

I don't think it is his wanting to be there. At least he'll be fully loaded when he does become a serious tech

when i was lube tech two years ago when i started to work for chrysler dealership, i already have snap on box (KRL1001b), lot of tools, and else that i can do pull engine or transmission even already had 3/4dr craftsman set... but i was work for independent shop that time i was their heavy line tech for three years...
that reason i bought a lot and lot of tools for independent shop but for dealership as i dont use a lot and lot of tools but do a lot of works...
right now i am still heavy line tech but still had to do oil change, tire rotate, and else...

Pretty much I don't want to be a lube tech. I hate it to be honest. I had a lot of those tools from when I work at a Sears auto center. They would sometimes let me do suspension work. So I have Alignment tools and various other things for suspension work. Plus I just like tools in general.

Okay, I see where you're coming from here, but I would rethink keeping so many tools in a place like this. I'd be afraid of more than them just being forgotten under the hood of a car.
Oh I took almost all my tools home and brought a few things. Screwdriver, One set of craftsman 3/8" sockets an extension and Napa ratchet. I left my set of Snap on Wrenches because working in the pit they do good on damaged drain plugs. I keep a close eye on those.

I'm a Tech-1 at Sears and I got as much tools and size of tool box as a Tech-3 has in his box. I don't have alot of specal tools for front end work. But working my way up.
I have it since I have the schooling for doing some of that work and when they ask can you do __________. I can say yes and get a Commision pay raise.
With out thinking about it, do I have the tools to it. They(boss man) knows what tools and skills I have.

I would expect that at a quick lube place where you are paid by the hour, not the job, that they would supply the tools needed to do the job.

But, do you trust the quality of the tool they choose??
Also there always a tool that is needed that they won't buy and you got it and you can do the job right, not with jury-rig tool that could get the job done but, not right.
Then where the line on that thought??
