so I'm in need of some socket organizing trays and curious to know who makes the best one and hold the most sockets without sacrificing room.....
Wanna get prolly 3-4 of these for sockets....

(1) 1/4" 6pt shallow and deep, 12pt shallow and deep, wobble 6pt and 12pt, std. and metric of each

(1) 3/8" 6pt shallow and deep, 12pt shallow and deep, wobble 6pt and 12pt, std. and metric of each

(1) 1/2" 6pt shallow and deep, 12pt shallow and deep, wobble 6pt and 12pt, std. and metric of each

So I need them to hold as many as possible and don't waste any space....

Help me out guys!!!!

Them are both really nice....but they both have some wasted space at the ends of them where they have the holes in them.....I need as much room as possible

Looking for something like these...

I got something like these at lowes. Only issue would be if you don't have a deep enough drawer.

Cut the offending ends off.

How big do they need to go? Customizing something to your needs will probably be best.

Unpopular opinion I actually prefer these metal socket rails over hanson trays because with Hanson trays you have size is printed on there with socket rails you just put them in there whatever size you need

i ran into the same problem with the hanson holders. they dont go big enough and for some reason and skip 26mm. would also be nice if the went lower on the 1/2 drive to 8mm.

i was going to get the eastwood trays you have pictured (blue ones) but then i couldnt see the sizes but would have worked better for me in the end.

just cant win lol

Snap on used to sell long rails and the different drive size clips. Lay out your sockets and make custom length rails. I used to keep multiple sizes bolted to a board, but it got too heavy to carry around. I broke it down to two sheet metal panels one imperial and one metric. As I got more sockets, I now usually just pull the rail with the specific socket style I need out of the drawer.

I have just started trying the mechanics time saver units. I like them so far. Durable, magnetic and pleasing on the eye, they do a ton of different arrangements too which was what sold it for me.

This is the reason why I bought them. They are the "twist" to lock and unlock. Won't regret them man. LIFETIME WARRANTY.

How think is the material you used for this?
Might just build my own as well to suit my needs that I'm looking for....
Also how does the rivets work on the bottom side? Are they flush or protrude out a lil bit?

It is 1/4" thick aluminum plate and I countersunk the holes on the bottom side 1/8" deep so all the rivets are flush on the bottom and so is the hex head screws for the handle.
My cost was about
$6 bux for the aluminum
$8 bux for 4 craftsman metal rails and clips....I had the 5th one Layin around
$2 bux for the stainless handle from Home Depot.

So total cost was $16 bux to build that and it's exactly the size I wanted to fit where it needed to go. The ones u buy are one size and I feel waste space.

Ernst socket boss is my choice. Can customize them anyway you would like.

Yes, all 3 blue rails come off easily. The clips also can be added or removed as needed.

Harbor Freight Cheapies cut down to perfect length, these allow me to remove sockets as needed strip by strip, and maximize space. yes, I have broken a clip or 2 and they arent as strong as my Matco or Craftsman rails were but much cheaper, and I have plenty of spares.

If my tool box was larger (56 incher) I would choose Ernst or Westling, with my favorite being Ernst for versatility. But my box is small, and I like it so I have to maximize my space.

My cabinets have lots of 2" deep by 22 by 16.5 drawers. These have worked nice for me ofer the years, $34-$40 a drawer with free shipping. I have had them for several years and they help keep me sorted and also make an outstanding presentation.

How about some pics of the wrestling trays in the box. I wonder how space I would need for a full set metric, standard, shallow, deep, semi-deep, impact. I people post pics. The Westlings look a little big, but seem very nice. People that have them what do you think about their space conservation or lack of it?

ChrisPace: Who makes those?

Here is the link for the foam trays, They are precut to standard Craftsman box's. 22.25 wide and 3 depths for different size boxes. I have had these for years. I had the guy make me a custom one for my Snap On Yellow handled screwdriver collection. He lays it out in a computer cad software and just cuts to order on a CNC machine.

I bought a few extra 2" drawers and I have 2 26" wide cabinets with lots of 2" and 3" drawers. I have really enjoyed it over the years.

Vim mag rails are my favorite they come in 8,12 and 16 lengths with studs you can move around wherever you would like

I am slowly switching to these the versitlity and space saving is great and the magnetic rails hold socket in place quite well
