Agreed. Had to have been a production glitch. No way did Ideal design it wrong and then start shipping them. It's just not that kind of company IMO.I'm not.
The message does say it was a limited manufacturing flaw. R&D can't pre-correct an error not related to the design.
If someone accidentally tweaked a machine's setup, unfortunately, this is one of the ways an error such as this gets found.
If anybody got a mechanism with the glitch and I haven't reached out to you, drop me a PM and we'll take care of you...
I don't feel so stupid now. I installed a 3/8 drop in kit last week and was underwhelmed with the improvement. After reading about the pawl issues I removed and re-installed it and got it to work in one direction and not the other. It seems like a nice upgrade if they can get it to work.

Hmm. I wonder if that single spring is the culprit, not able to apply enough force. It is actually just one spring pushing in both directions on those two detent balls.

I sent a PM to SK Eric but I did not see anything in the sent items folder so I resent a PM but still nothing showing it went through. I am sure its me but any thoughts??
Send it to [email protected]. Let them know you attempted to PM Eric
I got it DAB Mike, and forwarded your info to our warranty department along with the others.
The teeth on a ratchet are just divisions of a circle, so old, new, shouldn't matter...The issue isn't the handle, it's the mechanism. To do what they're trying to do requires manufacturing with a very high degree of precision, and if you're off by just a tiny amount, performance will suffer.Sounds like there's trouble in Dodge. Should work smoothly both directions. Wonder if the kit just doesn't quite work correctly with the older RHs?
Just curious, has anyone gotten the return label to send in the defective drop in and/or received a replacement yet?
Received my replacement today. Thank you SK Eric.
