Someone must have put out an alert in my area that there is a 28yr old male addicted to GJ and currently outfitting his shop, and if you list ANY antique power tool under $50 he will buy it from you...
I can't help myself. Thanks to you guys on here, I can't stop scanning CL for tools and I've developed a taste for the solid old real metal made shop tools from yester-year.
I picked up an 18" Sears and Roebuck lathe today. Looks pretty old, but seems solid. I didn't know what to look for and this one came up for $45. I think it is designed for metal based on how its set up, I'd prefer one for wood, but considering I never used a lathe before, I figure it's a good starter lathe.
Can someone stop me?? It's like a disease... First it was the vintage metal Black n Decker routers, then it was an older Delta table saw, then a Walker Turner drill press, and working on a trade for an antique Craftsman bandsaw... I'm afraid I'm just getting started, what's next?
Hi, I'm Nate, and I'm a tool-a-holic....

Hi, I'm Nate, and I'm a tool-a-holic....

said I had to go to my old high school surplus auction! And that is where my tool savings began. I can't remember when I last bought retail - other than consumables, like cut-off wheels, taps and reamers, lots of green clean and wd40. Everything else is Auction (live and on-line), flea markets and garage sales. Now, she doesn't give me an allowance off my pension
, so I have to buy my own toys - I mean tools - so I buy and sell to support my habit. Check out my Diamond tools on Show your Adjustable Wrenches thread.
