Did the doc mention anything about using straight clippers instead of curved? The outside edges of the nail remain above the skin and helps keep the center from submarining. Of course, if you're getting surgeries, that's a pretty bad issue.

Yeah, the side of the nails split off and grow sideways. He tried to kill them last time with the acid, but said it may grow back. One side of each toe actually stopped growing like that, but he took a little more just to be safe. I had to pull the ingrown part every 6 weeks or so, it was pretty nasty, but I was thinking it may finally stop. No such luck. He is confident that it will be fine after this. I sure hope so!

I was up and about Monday for half the day and today for a bit as well. The feet still hurt and the toes just throb. I got everything to the auction, including the big 2000 gallon tank. Having that done made me feel better for sure. The auction is this Thursday, I may try and go just to see what my items bring, I have a feeling I will not be able to stand up the entire day.

I think it would be better for you to just stay home put the sore feet up and consume a case or 2 of beer, that way you have a better chance of not bringing home more than you dropped off.

If it helps at all I am avoiding 2 auctions this week. And on Saturday I drove right past one and didn't stop.

I moved all the woodworking stuff except the miter saw and stand in order to prep for detail work and wall finishing. The good news is that it all fit in the main area. The bad is that there is 10 gallons of sh** in a five gallon pail. You couldn't pay me to buy something and try and jam it in there. What a disaster area, I've got my work cut out for me again this year all over again.

I sincerely hope all your stuff sells and you don't buy a thing. You are light years ahead of me if that happens.

The suspense may kill me, honestly, I have not seen anything at the auction I was interested in. I really think I can manage to go and either not buy anything or limit myself severely. I figure it will be a good test of my will power.

Disasters seem to be my specialty, I think I can fit 15 gallons in a five gallon pail. Everything at the auction will sell, it is an absolute, so if it brings a $1 bid, it is gone. If no one is interested the auctioneer adds it with the next item and sells them together. I have never had to pick up anything that did not sell, heck they will give it away if it doesn't sell. I know I will get more than I estimate, so I just figure if I get $500 I am more than happy, this way I will be pleasantly surprised. It is really hard to estimate anything, there are always different buyers, some are less savvy than others. Last year I had some power tools that sold for more than new retail and they were used. The spring auction is one of the best around here, because people are itching to spend money after a nasty winter with no auctions.

Luckily I have all ready been to one auction this spring and I did not buy anything. I did make a few bids, but I knew I wasn't going to win, of course had I won, well lets just say I would have been extremely happy.

It took loads of will power, but I decided not to go to a local auction at a blacksmith and fab shop, I knew I would be in trouble if I went, virtually anything in his place I could have used and wanted. I didn't have the money or space right now, so I didn't go.

I am rethinking again some of my projects/things. I need to be more efficient and I am realizing I would rather spend time working on things with my brother and Dad than some of the other stuff I got into by myself, so I am working on an updated layout and such.

Keep it up, you will get there.

I think one of my main issues is actually GJ, I end up spending more time on here than I would like to. I also tend to spend a lot of money based on other peoples acquisitions. I may take a break for a while, maybe from technology itself. I am not really sure what I am doing right now, I have been trying to get my new company started, but it seems like I am an insurance nightmare. I just called another agent to try and get things started. If I can't get insurance, then I do not know what the hell I am going to do.

I have decided to go to the auction, I have $100 to spend. That is it. I am there to see what my stuff sells for and if my $100 will buy me something neat, then so be it.

Unless your stuff sells first, then you'll have more to spend:bounce:.

I'm kinda of in the same boat now too. I've missed a few auctions, but it's just as well, as I need to get my shop under control first before adding to it. I'll be missing a few this weekend as we are having a family cookout.

My son bought his house and is in the process of moving his stuff out of my shop, so that is bringing change, has me thinking about redoing the layout and will give me room to get a few projects done.

I ended up staying the entire day, I bid on some items, I won some items, I lost some items, overall it was a good day. My feet would tend to disagree, they feel pretty awful right now, especially the toes.

I actually missed a few of my items, so I do not know what they sold for, but my total sales that are accounted for is about $4,500, I am guessing there is another $1,000 on top of that. After fees (you guys thought ebay was bad!) I should end up with high $4,000 range.

I spent a total of $800.75, but that included my friends purchases. He chipped in a few dollars for my time and I ended up spending only $115. Of course I filled the suburban to the brim, but I feel overall I did very well. I should be able to get some pictures of the stuff I bought this weekend, along with a general shop update.

One auction trick I learned from my father is to never take a big vehicle or a trailer to a local auction, that way it cuts back on the impulse buys, I personally hate having to run home to get the truck and trailer.

Of course if the auction is further away I take the truck and trailer with me, or in one case I bought a truck at the auction to haul all the **** my wife and father bought home.

Anyhow great job sticking right around your $100 budget, now go home and hang your fire extingushers.

I felt pretty proud that I kept my budget that close, I will admit if I had won a couple of other things the conversation would be different. All in all, had I won everything I bid on, I would have been at about $600. Even at that number, I would have been doing pretty good compared to some of my past auctions.

I know the feeling at the one where I bought the bandsaw I had set the limit on that at $750, but once the bidding started I couldn't let it go for under a grand.

I have no regrets about that though since I have been looking for one for a few years and even a new 20" grizzly would have run me over 3k.

I have that problem as well. The biggest issue and I definitely was able to beat it today, is letting someone else get the great deal. I was discussing this with a buddy, essentially we are in agreement, if you see a pallet full of things you use all the time and it is selling for $5 you are obligated to bid and not allow the other person to win it at such a cheap price. Failure to do this would result in revocation of your man card.

I can't wait to post pictures of the suburban and all the stuff! Here is a rundown of what I got:

Misc pallet of goodness $50

Air powered winch $25

Three crates of used hardhats $10

Hand punch and other things $10

Box of power and air tools $45

I know this does not add up to $115, but remember I made money by bidding for another friend. So all I paid was $115, that made the day even sweeter!

Here are the pictures of the suburban, I also forgot to tell you guys about the excitement at the auction. Someone's truck caught fire part way through the auction and burnt to the ground. The stupid fire department took 20 minutes to show up and then could not figure out how to get the pump truck to pump water. They let it burn out, I am sure there will be youtube videos, there must have been 70 people recording the entire thing.

On a good note, the toes are doing much better, I almost feel normal. The only time it is really still painful is if I end up on my knees and the toes are pushing into the boots. They still look nasty though.

Sorry Thumper, I still did not hang up my fire extinguisher, it is on the short list for this weekend. I did get to unload the truck and try out some of the tools. Here are the pictures of the haul:

Whitney No. 16 Punch $10, tested and works well. I also got a couple of other things, but I forgot to take pictures. One was a Hykon wire measurer with a setup to transfer wire from a large spool to a small one. The other item was an old grinder that needs a separate motor to run it.

Misc power tools, big hammer drill doesn't work, but all the other tools function, they just look ugly. Part of the $45 lot.

Air tools, the two snap on impacts work great, but the other tools (all bluepoint) will need some attention. These are also part of the $45 lot. There was also a Milwaukee 18 volt drill, but is does not seem to work, but I have an idea for it.

Air powered winch, not sure if it is a 500 pound or 1000 pound model yet, it works. I thought it was pretty cool, paid $25

My three bins of hard hats, the containers are probably the best part. Paid $10 for all.

The rest of the stuff was a pallet of misc hardware and supplies for $50. Luckily most is sorted into containers, I will need to put it into my bins, but at least I will know what it is!

That air powered winch is pretty cool. Would be awesome on my service truck so I wouldn't have to run cables to the battery!

I am going to hook it up to my 5 ton and see how well it does. I think it needs a lot of CFM to keep it moving, so it may be intermittent unless you have a lot of storage capacity. I was thinking it would be neat to use on a trailer for loading, it can be double parted. It has probably 150' of 1/4" cable on it.

Just taking a break, I have been sorting things for a few hours. At this point I think I have made more of a mess than progress. I did hang the first fire extinguisher, I still have another one to figure out where I want it. I am thinking on the other side of the shop. I also spent a little time going through the hard hats, a bunch are going to be recycled and a couple are worth reselling. I ended up keeping one along with a nice flip down face shield. I also took a couple of pictures of the last items that I won, nothing spectacular, but absolutely wort every penny of the $10 I spent.

I spent a a few more hours getting things sorted by either presorted, misc, junk, and unknown. I just took a quick look at the containers to see if what the label said looked right, if it was, then it was considered presorted. Then there were containers that had obvious mixed hardware, so I set that aside as misc. Then there was the obvious trash and scrap, but I still had a large assortment that was unknown. I will have to do some research for sure. I have the back of the suburban full of recycling, all the junk boxes and broken plastic containers, plus the junk hard hats.

The cool thing was that the plastic containers fit pretty well in my cabinets. I ended up loading up a couple of drawers, but I really need to move a ton of hardware around so I can have one drawer of ¼" and then the 5/16" can be next to that, then ⅜".

I spent a little time sorting the electrical connectors that came with the load, the drawer started out being ⅔ full, I actually removed and consolidated a bunch of connectors so I could fit all the new items. It is starting to look nice!

I am pretty sure I will never need to buy any wire markers ever again, most were partially used, but there are tons of markers left.

Good stuff Strouty, I'd say you did well!

Thanks nine, I am most happy about the whitney punch. I did some research and it will punch a 9/16" hole through 1/8" steel. They still make all the dies and if you want to buy the punch new, it is about $500. I have a scheme to mount it on my bench so that it is interchangeable with the beverly shear I bought a few months back.

After a small fiasco with my GF (thanks to her forgetting her phone at home) I got started figuring out what to do. I started shuffling things around from cabinet to cabinet and then I decided that the big vidmar needed some attention. The previous owner had tack welded the dividers into some of the drawers and they were no where near where I wanted them. I got out the grinder and a hammer and chisel and started removing them. What a mess! The dust was everywhere, you kind of forget how bad it can be until you get into a smaller space with lots of surface area. I wish I had removed the drawers and done this in the main part of the shop. Now I need to slap a quick coat of paint on them, nothign pretty, just so it won't rust.

I'd spray them with some etch primer or rustoleum. I can't believe someone tacked them in there...

Believe me, I was totally like WTF when I realized they were welded in. There were only two drawers that did not have welded dividers. The entire reason to buy a vidmar cabinet is because of the ease of swapping things around. They were too lazy to put the actual bolts in, those would have held the dividers perfectly. Oh well, over and done with, I just wish I had done it when I first got the cabinet.

I did spray it with some rustoleum after wiping it down with acetone. It looks like ****, but it won't rust. Once I figure out where everything is going, I can slowly paint all the cabinets to match each other. I just have more important things to do right now.

Today was uneventful, I bought a new (used) office chair, my other one has decided to give up on my fat ***. This one is an older one, but still comfortable, it has a screw to adjust the height. It also has actual wheels instead of those weird things on all the newer chairs. I am guessing this one will last me a lifetime and then some.

This week went by very fast. I got almost nothing done at the shop and I still have two days of paperwork to do. I did manage to add some new goodies, I am especially excited about the 36" forks, my other ones are 42" and that extra 6" can be a PITA, I deal with mostly smaller plastic pallets and the forklift stays inside most all the time. These will make it more maneuverable for me. I still will have the longer forks, heck, I also have some 60" ones.

I bought another hose reel, tractor supply had them on clearance for $69.99, last one I paid $125 IIRC.

Got my battery tender for the 6x6 as well. I hope this will be enough to keep the batteries where they should be.

I also picked up a couple of enerpac foot pumps with knockout punches and a cable bender for really big copper and aluminum. I only really wanted one pump and the hollow ram so I could use it with my lisle exhaust stretcher, but I can sell a few pieces and probably pay for the rest of the stuff. I think I will keep the knockout punches, it says they will go through ⅛" sheet and the big one is for 4" conduit.

I spent about 5 hours on my paperwork, I took a break and switched the forks over to the forklift and setup the float charger on the 6x6. Hopefully it will have a decent charge tomorrow, I am also going to have to check the water levels in the batteries.

Tonight I have had GJ members crunching numbers for me, so I am still making headway on my paperwork. Hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow, then I can transition into ebay listings.

The 24 volt battery tender worked awesome, the batteries were right up where they should be. The truck started great, then when I went around to unplug the battery tender, the truck started skipping, then died. It only took me a minute to figure it out, but it is still dumb, the truck ran out of fuel. It has two saddle tanks and the valve is inside the cab on the floor between the seat and the door. The fuel gauge has a switch on the dash that shows either tank. I flip the switch and it reads empty. Here is where it gets weird, the valve reads that I am on the right tank and the gauge says the left tank is empty. Somewhere the labels must have been messed up. I switched tanks, primed it and it fired right up. I then had to unhook the trailer that was on it, and the jack is a little messed up, but I got it unhooked. I hadn't driven it in a while and now I am remembering two more issues that I wanted to fix, the throttle does not return all the way, you have to pull the pedal up to get rid of the last 300 RPMs. The other thing is the valve that controls the air clutch on the fan, it leaks so bad, if you park it, all the air is gone in 5 minutes.
