I don't see how you do it, I am terrified in tall buildings with balcony's or see through floors...I can climb on the roof of my house and run around no problem but you get me 50-100' off the ground and my knees start shaking... I'm WAY more comfortable 50-100' deep in the ocean.![]()
I couldn't fathom being that deep. It would bother me just as much as being 50' in the air.
I think I am going to start reconfiguring the shop so the stockroom is on the opposite end, this is the way I planned it in the future redesign anyways, but I think it will be easier to just start out that way. Have to do some figuring and drawing for sure. Will be looking at lista storage wall system for the entire stockroom. I think I can consolidate what I currently have into less space by using a combination of drawers, shelves, and pull out trays. The best part is that it will allow me to grow as needed. The initial cost will probably be a bit hard to swallow, but longterm it will be worth it. I am done trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
Just make sure you are not trying to put a really expensive square peg into an already crowded round hole.![]()
In this instance I have to gauge it the other way. I don't want a really expensive place to put cheap junk. Once I figure out exactly what I want, it takes 30 days for the order to be ready. I guess between this stuff and the snap on box, I am relearning patience.
I need to get some more pricing, but it seems doable, especially if I sell almost all my other cabinets and shelving. The pain in the *** part is that I really need to wait until after the new stuff is delivered before selling the old stuff, otherwise I will really make a crazy mess. This is going to be an expensive year for sure. I will say that this winter, there will be no boats or other junk stuffing up the shop. It is going to be usable, that is my story and I am sticking with it.
There is no greater pleasure, in my book, than usable shop space.
I recently had that good fortune. It is so sublime, to be able to go in there and do something.

As long as I don't go insane trying to make it the way I want.
Just remember that it's all in your head. You will reach nirvana when you rearrange your thinking and your habits, more than your stuff.

That was my point, my brain doesn't seem to be able to let things calm down. I live this 24/7 feeling like I "need" to be organizing the mess. Even when I am not there, a little voice keeps whispering to me "shouldn't you be organizing?" Kind of driving me insane and I am a little worried that if I get the place organized the damn voice is just going to start whispering something else.
What about a knockoff wall system like these for 10x cheaper?

Why not re-use material if you can. It's too expensive to just use for a temporary solution. I got a lot of **** from Rick while doing the "ceiling job" but I couldn't bring myself to just throwing away good material that could be re-used. I like to think of it as being smart and not cheap.![]()

Got it, I was reading it wrong. You get your lift moved?
At least all the work is done and we are ready to do it when the mood strikes. That turned out to be a lot bigger project than I expected. Not yet. I'm think I'll wait until the alignment lift gets here and then make the move.At least all the work is done and we are ready to do it when the mood strikes. That turned out to be a lot bigger project than I expected.

Strouty: don't feel like the Lone Ranger in this organizing situation you are going through now. i'm in the process myself and i need to get my wife's car back into her part of the garage tonight or i'll be sleeping on the deck tonight. She knows i have 3 10 x 20 storage units and a 25 x 25 shop i lease so not too much sympathy from her side of the room.
just curious what price you got for your scrap when you drop it off? are you able to go through the scrapper's stuff to see if you can find an old gem?
take care and how's the leg?
It looked quite involved. I am figuring mine will be at least as bad.![]()
The best part of that is when you get it done. It's a good feeling to know that it's behind you. I'm going to be in Portland Monday the 6th.(Drs. app.) and the wife will be with me, so if I can convince her to tag along, I'll see if you're going to be around. It would be a real short visit if it works out at all.
