I like it when you buy a box of stuff, for one or two items, and they end up buying several other things from you, out of that same box. And then you realize you sold the loose items for more than you paid for the whole box... before you ever got back to your truck!

I went to an auction, and there was two fruit bins of stuff, Another guy and my self was bidding on the two. I asked him what he was bidding on, it was different then what I wanted so each of us bought one of the bins and traded each other for what we wanted out of the other bin.

We do some deals with each other, but the auctioneers are pretty strict, I guess it is considered collusion to make deals like that with other bidders. As long as they don't see you doing it, they don't mind. I spent the afternoon getting trash from the MIL's house, we filled Bev, looks like it will be two dumpster loads. I am having the waste company empty it tomorrow, hopefully they will give me five minutes to reload it so I don't have a full dumpster for next week.

They get a little touchy at times. But they all know me. I always get bidder number 129, Not sure what that means in life, but I have used that number for years. Some people who don't know me but see me at the auctions know me as Bidder #129

ALWAYS stand up front
And face out to the crowd when you bid.

I have seen many a soul stand up front and face the auctioneer...and watched that guy bid on "someone" in the back......

Every auctioneer (or floor assistant) seems to pull that trick at some point. I always get in a position to see the crowd of bidders so I can make sure someone actually raised their hand.

I am very aware of that, luckily I know the auctioneers very well and they know not to pull that **** on the regulars. Every once in a while they will let someone bid against themselves, but they usually tell them and then start over.

This morning I went to the pet store to get some fish for the aquarium, they were having a 20% off sale, then I had a 10% coupon that they stacked. After that I had to go to city hall to get a legitimate birth certificate so I can go and look at that 50k pound 4 axis milling center I may be buying, I am looking at it on Monday. Then I made it to the shop in time for the dumpster to get emptied and the driver waited for me to refill it, so now I have all the trash out of my truck from the MIL's house.

My Dad showed up and we worked on the compressor plumbing. After we got it hooked up, I realized that I did it wrong, so now I have to get more parts and take it apart, then redo things. I also fixed one leak, only to find another, so when I redo the plumbing I should be able to fix that leak as well. My arm is a bit sore, but it was from moving all the trash bags from he truck to the dumpster more than anything. Hopefully some advil and ice will keep it good for tomorrow, I have my buddy coming over to help me out getting some stuff ready for the auction.

At least the truck is unloaded and ready to go!

I am sure "Bev" is happy also. So when is the auction?, There is one here tomorrow, I don't think I will be going. I previewed it and didn't find any thing that I wanted.

THe auction is the 14th of April. They start taking consignments on Monday. Anything that gets checked in after probably Thursday will be so far down the line that it won't make as much money.

I only have some crappy pics and because of the rules, no cameras are allowed in. They can take pictures, but not me.

Here is a website that shows what it is, I am looking at possible salvage of components, but until I get to look at it, I am not sure what is really worth saving. I am essentially looking at this as a scrap job.

Holy ****. What do you need that for? Thats like something we would use to machine 100,000 engine blocks in a year.

Scrap and maybe some salvage parts. Everything comes down to if they can load it, if a rigger needs to be involved, I am out. If they load it, I make a few thousand in scrap steel, plus anything salvageable.

It is a few pieces and they can move about 30k pounds with the equipment they have. I will find out for sure on Monday. They did say that if I was not interested in it, they were going to scrap it, my guess is it will cost them money to scrap the machine and they want it gone. Maybe $100 will own it.

I picked up some more 1" black iron parts, I now should be able to finish the air compressor plumbing. I have to bleed the air and disconnect what I did yesterday. I also bought a small tubing cutter, (I have several but they are all MIA), my Dad and I spent an hour looking for one yesterday, they are probably all in one spot sitting back, giggling at me.

Yesterday I added acetone to my new plunger can dispenser and let me tell you, these are the best thing ever. No more spilling, hardly any waste, I love it! I bought another smaller one, but I am not sure what I am going to use it for yet.

Cleaned out some tool bags, trying to get things organized, but I made a mess!

I counted and it seems you are missing some green hammers. They are probably hiding with the tubing cutters and snickering as well.

I am back from the auction, didn't buy any thing. Wife wanted a little bag of jewelry (unclaimed police recovered property) It went way higher then we wanted to pay. Home again in my recliner again.

Bill, what you saw is what I need to redo, there is no drain for that drop, so I need to add it below where the flex line enters the steel pipe.

RM, green hammers are all over the place, blue hammers are everywhere as well. I will say that I did not order all the hammers in green, but I did order one of each hammer they offer in blue.

Sorry LS6, I know you won't regret it, one of the best purchases I have ever made. Still trying to understand why I did not buy one years ago.

Rich, sometimes prices get out of hand, at least you didn't get caught up in the moment!

My buddy showed up way earlier than I expected and that turned out to be a good thing. We moved a ton of stuff around, but we did not touch the compressor. I figure I can handle the compressor on my own, but there was no way I was going to load all the heavy things that need to go to the auction by myself. We ended up leaving at about 3 to go to get food and I decided that was good enough for the day. I am now at home and I am going to take it easy and ice the elbow while I prepare for the cold weather and snow headed our way. I will have to get pictures tomorrow, I am hoping to get the compressor finished, I took things apart this morning and have everything figured out, I just did not want to waste the help that I had on something I can do inside while it is cold outside.

Yeah,
Never heard of those before. Had to go to Justrite's site to check out their offerings.
Not something I must have, but cool. Strouty has all the cool stuff.

A fake mistake?

The picture was of what I did with my Dad, but it was all wrong, so I have taken it all apart so I can redo it. Depending on how I feel tomorrow I may get to finish the "redo", but they are calling for power outages and cold, so I may stay at home and do some organizing. I will see how I feel.

Here is what my old (funny it was actually almost new) compressor, see how the compressor enters the black iron, but I have a drop section that is below that. This is to keep water from rolling back into the compressor after it condenses in the black iron pipe. I am going to rework the line so it will do the same thing with the new compressor.

Well, as I figured, the cold, the wind, and the snow has demotivated me. I am staying at the house today and will head to the shop tomorrow before I go and look at the big milling center.

If I am understanding what you are saying, I did not do that and it was on purpose. Another member had a crazy backwards (from what most recommended) idea on how to plumb the system and I feel it is much better than the design that most use. Here is the thread that shows the original setup for the IR compressor. It worked very well and I would recommend it to anyone.

Strouty,

That was a great discussion on air piping. I remember when he first posted it.

I decided to follow his advice when I do mine. I have it bookmarked.

It will take some study to understand all he said.

I had never thought about putting a drain on the main pipe next to the compressor. But it stands to reason that it would work better to drain the water out of the pipe instead of it running back into the compressor.

Rich, the biggest thing that I saw was that the drop farthest from the compressor had no moisture at all. The one right by the compressor had a lot of water, so his theories made sense and as far as I am concerned what MTW posted has been proven. My next step is to build a drain manifold so I can have the moisture removed without much effort on my part.

1/2, I will post pictures of the real install when I am done, that was the fake install.

Or what we sometimes refer to as "a ********"

Things are looking great Strouty. What will you do when the day comes that the shop is completely the way you want it? (Ha ha ha) Start over I presume.:bounce:
