source for stainless braided hose for compressor?

Time for a replacement.
I need 1ft or 18" of 304 or 316L of flex hose w/brass npt ends to connect from my compressor to a union.

McMaster only has 5' (though I suppose I could special order if necessary).

Looking for industrial quality, made in USA.

Why not just use a hydraulic hose? Less than $10 at any farm supply store.

The 36" 3/4 male hydro hose I got from TSC was about $15.

I'm sure somebody will tell me the 300 psi it's rated for isn't for air........whatever.

Yep....it's intended for water. Expect it to fail real soon......say 50-60 years give or take a decade or two.....

Gets my vote for quickest and most simple solution.

Does it have to be brass ends?
I have gotten some Swagelok flex hose off of Ebay. More than enough pressure rating, but if you want to finish the system you have been working on then go for it.

I used the same thing...very happy, and no problems with leaking,or rupturing...then again,the moisture coming out is hot(hence, its designed useage,water heater hose!)

My local Napa makes custom hydro hoses and has stainless lines and a full selection of -an, jic, or npt fittings also. I had a 3/4" x 22" one made up a couple years back for about $14 that I've been using as the output of a 4500psi tank with no issues..

kettek are you sure you flex hose is rated for that pressure?
Plus it looks like you have a JIC fitting on the tank end. 1/2" JIC is rated for about 3500 psi.

I had mine made up by McMaster Carr. I also got the Teflon lining.

The only thing I would have changed is to get 3/4" male ends instead of the 1" NPT male ends, but I had a friend get a couple of complete sets of 1" hammer unions out of the warehouse to solve the problem.

The hammer unions are rated at 15K working pressure, which is kind of overkill.

Your water heater hose solution is just fine. -It is not PVC.


The only possible problem would be oil resistance. Time will tell. No worries about explosions. If it fails in 10-50 years just replace it.

If all else fails, go to a semi truck dealer. They use braided hoses on the air-brake compressor. It's designed to take the heat and pressure. They come premade in assorted lengths.

The Volvo truck dealer i worked at had the hose in bulk and end's thad had a taperd ferral. Very easy to assemble. That's what i used at my old garage havnt got around to plumb up the current shop only been in it for 8 years now
