I have a project that I am working on that needs quite a few 1/2 x 3/4 x 1/2 steel spacers. I'm sure someone must mass produce these but I'm not finding them at MSC, Fastenal or Hillman. Any other suggestions? I could turn them all but in terms of time I'd prefer not to.

I found arbor spacers in .5 x .75 but a max .125 length. Misumi might be an option but their standard spacers did not have your id x od listed so you would have to contact them. Travers has some 1/2" stub arbors with spacers included but no listing for separate spacers.

Good luck

At $3.50 each you could quickly pay for a band saw / cold saw etc and cut them out of pipe.

How many do you need?

Yeah, get the right size tube and setup a saw with a stop. You or a trained helper could knock out quite a few per hour.

You can get common 1/2" hex nuts 31/64" high and drill them out. Probably the cheapest option, but not knowing the tolerances you need or the application, I can only guess.

That's what I would recommend a bandsaw or what ever you have to cut it with and some 3/4 x1/2 DOM Tubing, asit is smooth on the inside

This assuming you don't need a precision spacer. The reason spacers are expensive is they are cut, and then ground to a tolerance. Three step process. good parallel spacers are easy, but tedious to make if you need them to be extremely parallel and flat.

Brian's correct-- pipe will have the welded seam down the bore. But when you consider the high price of DOM and the time spent machining the spacers, it might well be cheaper to buy them.

I guess it depends on how many the OP needs, and the time frame in which he needs them.

I'm going to end up needing about 40 of them total. They aren't precise and do have to be round for the application. I'd figured my best was going to be a drop of whatever DOM the local supplier has and bore it out to 1/2" if needed and then part them. I'd considered using my chop saw or bandsaw but I want something a bit smoother and without the burn mark from a chop saw.

Dom tubing and a parting tool in the lathe. About a 45 minute job.
